Rastafari is a young, Africa-centred religion that developed in Jamaica in the 1930s. Rastafarians believe that Haile Selassie is God and that he will return to the Africa members of the black community who live in exile as the result to slave trade and colonization. Rastafari developed from a guy named Marcus Garvey who wasted to improve the status of blacks. This specific religion follows a lot of names: Rastafarians, Rastas, Sufferers, Locksmen, Dreads or Dread locks. Rastafari spread globally through the music of Bob Marley in the 70s. They believe that blacks are the chosen people of God but that through colonization and slave trade they have been suppressed.
