You are going to be really pleased when you blow some of these shots up, especially the house on the lake, one of my favorite kinds of shots.

You are in danger of overdosing on all that gorgeous scenery.

Everybody needs a rest including you and the bike. Lots of really nice photos. We all enjoyed the town.

Following you
Thanks Jim , now I know how you got there. Fantistic trip, great photos and great performance. Only Jim Coates could pull this off with such bella figura.

Findung you
OK I have found Puyuhuapi and Villa Amengual, so where did you cross over? At Esquel on 231/259 or North of there? Following you is as hard on a map as it must be following you on a bike. The ride must be as taxing as it is thrilling. Look up, I might be above you in a helicopter pretending to be Dios, but with a small d. Harry PS Did you ever get gas or are still eating in the kitchen?

Finding you
I spent the night at Trevelin and then went straight west and crossed at Futaleufu, then followed the river of the same name down to route 7. Left on Route 7 (carretera Austral) and down to Puyuhuapi. After that, just stayed on route 7 going south. Spent last night at Coyhaique. Then kept going south on route 7. Am now at Lake General Carrera. The town is Puerto Gaudal. Hey, the map is nothing. The ride is amazing -- up and over these muddy passes. Huge mountains on either side with a rushing river by the road. You ever follow the Kootenay River going north in Idaho on 93 ? Its kind of similar, but colder, and less trees. So thanks for taking an interest.

Chileans are very proud of their country.

Amazing photos
These photos are just beautiful Jim. They make me want to visit this part of the world, though perhaps not on two wheels. Thanks for sharing them with us.

You have driven me to get a better map of the roads of Argentina and Chile to figure out your route. If that doesn't work I'll just have to travel as blind as you are. Is it you or the bike that wants to be hidden from view. Only Jim Coates could seek out such obscure places. But the view is wonderful, as I assume the gravel is not. The bikes tires must love it, but it must slow you down a bit. All is well here if you ignore the politics.

Amazing how much the other side of the world looks like this side. Some would argue even better. Sounds like the pace is not killing you. How do you like the bike?
29th January 2018

The bike is the same model as mine, but four years newer. Unlike mine, it is water cooled and ride by wire. It's a rental bike so it's been beat up some, and ha some noises I can't identify and I hope aren't serious. It rides ok. So far it's done ok in the gravel, tho o keep expecting something to fall off. I like it, and it rides like mine, so I'm comfortable. The cases are plastic, and I expect them to break. Bits of the body are falling off, and trapped on. They will fall. Adds to the excitement.

Down hill all the way.
You are just the person to do this trip: the mix of place and people. Some of us might find it a bit harder. Be sure you don’t fall into the trap of feeling at home and comfortable.

Que linda camaradería
Hola Jim preciosas las vistas, pero lo que más me alegra es la camaradería entre "motoqueros". Abrazos y que continúe el viaje así!

Onward and upward
As usual we are there with you, but all we have to do is sit in our chairs, with the rapidly melting snow vanishing, and enjoy the ride and all the wonderful pictures, history and background. So far so good. I hope the bike is as good as the biker. Awaiting further results. Harry

What a nice journal and pictures
Hi Jim thanks for sharing your trip events. It makes me feel being there

¡Muy lindo!
Querido Jimmy, Ahora estoy con aún más envidia. Tus fotos preciosas, y tu comentario excelente. You should become a travel writer. Eso de dejar el pasaporte en el Correo es medio despistado, ¿no? Lo que no me sorprende es lo de encontrar un uruguayo con voluntad de ayudar. Eso pasa con mayor frecuencia de lo esperado. There's a pattern. Abrazos, Pepe
