A Pity you get to stay 'only' 1 month
We can't find it our hearts to feel sorry for you, much as we love you, Donna and Rick

No pity
Yes, it's an interesting crowd here. Joe and I think that this is a place where people can "winter" very cheaply. The ones that come here year after year have built a fun social network, I can see why they like it here so much.

Still having fun I see
So sorry about your fall, Judy! Looks like fun times for all, though... very relaxing with all that beach action. Love the pix, as always.

Fun
The carnival looks like a lot more fun than the hockey game.

Love your blogs....
Looks like a great place. I see a fan in the house. Air-conditioning? I could live with a maid four days a week!! Just gorgeous colors, Judy. We have spent several years meeting our kids Mike and Von and Marcie and Ben (and year before last Steve and Sherry, as well) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Always lovely and fun. This past year we went to the Dominican Republic instead. Always such fascinating experiences. Looks like you are in for a great time.

AC
We have the option of paying for air conditioning but thought we'd try it without it first. Don't think we'll need it. It's warm but certainly not oppressive. Fans at night are just fine.

Love it!
You all look fantastic!

Great photos!
Hi Judy ~~ the photos are wonderful and it helps me visualize what it's like. Roger gave me a skype tour once but we didn't get very far as it was mostly at his home there. I talked to Kendra and she said you're going to skype with her today, her birthday. That's great! I'm glad you're with Roger and I'm sure he's really enjoying the visit. Love your blog, keep 'em coming! love, Nancy

Yeah!
So glad to see this. I first visited Puerto in 1977 when it was a sleepy place with great accommodations in hammocks. I will be reading about your trip there as you post. Thanks, WR

Dos Palmas in Puerto Escondido

Nice!
Looks like a great place. Wish we could have joined you. Thanks again for the invitation. We were snowed in last week, but made it down to Richmond for a long weekend to babysit Isaac and Selah and attend the movie "Frozen" (the sing-a-long version) with them. We won't make it to Mexico, but at least we have plans to go visit our Florida family and some old NPS friends down there in early April. We've got Harry settled into his new "home" in Richmond and have been spending a lot of time down there. But we're feeling a little better about doing a some traveling now that we're sure he is well cared for. Have a great time. We will be with you vicariously, if not in person.

We found Quebecers really hate English and had bad experiences there
When we were in Québec city recently we found that a lot of french refuse to speak English. We know some French and spole to them in French and they pretended not to understand. They play a lot of head games which a form of abuse. We found them to be extremely abusive people and the province seems on the verge of civil war. We believe there a group of French who are targetting the English tourist areas in Québec city. On rue St Jean some demented guy had a bunch of wasps in a jar and when we walked by he opened the jar and of course, the wasps were very aggressive and stung one of us. The guy looked at us and said it was the wasp's way of giving a Quebecois greeting to the English. Another experience we had was when we went for lunch at a hamburger place on rue St Jean and when we opened a bottle of ketchup the ketchup exploded all over us. It sounds like they have a lot of deranged characters walking the Streets there and we advise not going there. It sounds like the use the political situation as an excuse to go around verbally and physically attacking English people.

Quebec City
Wow, when was this visit? We found just the opposite in visiting Old Quebec City. We spoke English (after saying "Bon jour" to everyone and all the shopkeepers were extremely friendly and spoke English back to us. Do you really think the exploding ketchup bottle was intentional? I've had that happen to me before and that's just the way ketchup is sometimes. I do have to say that we did find it a little odd that there is so little English signage in Quebec when there is both English and French in the other provinces.

Home is Welcome
Judy and Joe, Thank you for taking us on a travelog trip with you. Your home isn't humble and I bet it still feels like 'there's no place like home'. Love, Donna and Rick

Home
We just walked in the door and it's 4 AM Detroit time, so we're exhausted. Home does look pretty good. Unwinding a bit so I can sleep. Donna, thanks for reading my blog and for all the comments. I know that when Dad was alive he would read my blogs and emails and on this trip I would often think, "I wish I could tell Dad about that." Having my aunt reading them is the next best thing. It helps. Love to you and Rick.

Hopefully you ate the local Perch
We are from Ohio and the perch in that part of the world is pretty good. Hope you sampled it while there. What part of California will you be in?

Ohio
We really liked Cleveland as you know from the blog. We had some time to kill on the way to the airport so went to see downtown Toledo. Now, that was a sad place. Maybe we just didn't go to the right place? We put "downtown Toledo" into the GPS. We didn't eat the perch because where I'm from (Kansas) nobody eats them, we throw them back because they're too bony. Guess I missed out on something there, huh? I should have realized that since it was sold everywhere it must be good. Next time... We're off to San Diego.
