Marshall Field Oh, he does have a huge memorial. There's a large sculpture of a woman, called "Memory." It's designed by the same guy who designed the Lincoln Memorial, Daniel Chester French.
Schoenhofen Yep, it is the same family. I never knew they had a brewery. It was pretty big, too!
The mausoleum itself is pretty unique- i don't know if you can tell from this picture, but besides the pyramid shape, there's an Egyptian sphinx on one side of the door and an angel on the other. the door handle leading into the mausoleum has a snake on the handle. It's one of the more interesting tombs at Graceland
Always lots of photos! I'm always so happy to host your friends. Claudine was so much fun and I loved learning about life in Quebec!! I was thrilled when she asked if she could stay for the "annual" Karaoke Party. You both were quite busy, but we did get some visiting time with her.
A Wonderful Visit You gave Claudine a real good taste of Chicago. It was fun having her here and I think she had a great time. We WILL have to visit Quebec City!
Ouiiiiiiiiiii Wow! I don't know if you've only just put this up but I'm so happy for the great memories! I can't believe it's been 7 months already. Also I'm sorry but according to Brits, I have an American accent... which means I don't have an accent in America :P Hehe can't wait till you come up North and visit me in my beautiful French city :) Cheers x
True Friends Never Lose Touch!
I think it is great that you three keep in touch all these years and over all the hundreds of miles that have separate you.
I'm sure Michelle didn't need to twist your arm, Heather, for an excuse to travel! Plus, who would pass up the opportunity to see such an adorable baby??

Thanks Dad Thanks for the info about the photos- for some reason everytime i download them on here, the captions always get screwed up..i think i fixed everything, though.
and you should go back to Mt. Rushmore...it was really moving
Great Blog! I really liked your description of the evening program at Mt. Rushmore. It almost brought tears to my eyes. It makes me really want to go back there, since my only visit was when my Dad took us as young kids.
The photos are great, too.
You do need to go back and edit some of your photos. Some of the captions are wrong.
Excellent blog!
Love, Dad
Irish Heritage Heather the pics are great. Such a way to show your Irish heritage.
It is great to know that other parts of the country know how to party on St .Pat's Day.
We Loved It! Great weather and a lot of fun. We will have to all do it together again. Brett will have to earn some time off at his new job first, though.
Love, Dad
Love the paint...lol The pictures are great. The colors, another matter. You know you can always get some clearance light colors and sponge over to soften the overall look. They tell you to do the dark colrs first anyway.... We are painting the second color on the new laundry room walls but it is just OK not great... I know you are enjoying the new house. Love, Aunt Kim
Hysterical! Heather, this does look so cool. Just watching the glasses drop has to be hysterical. Thank you for broadening my knowledge...... Love, Aunt Kim
Kaimi: To Seek
We shall not cease from exploration, And the end of all our exploring, Will be to arrive where we started, And know the place for the first time." -T.S. Elliot
I have a passion for traveling... experiencing new cultures, seeing amazing architecture and landscapes, and trying new food. I also like to learn from observing and listening to the people I meet along the way and hopefully make a few new friends.
2014 - I've been pretty quiet on Travelblog for a while...living in my childhood house, going to grad school and working 2-3 jobs at the same time didn't leave much fun ... full info
