Well this has been an amazing week in Mexico City! Visited Xochimilco, a historic city that used to trade with Tenochitlan. Its known for its canals that were built when the city used to be on a lake. Actually they built the islands (and thus the canals) by using rocks, dirt and then planting trees which rooted in the lake botom and hold up the land. The lake was not very deep. Anyway I took a ride on a boat which was pushed along with bamboo sticks, like Venice, mexico style :) Floating vendors came up often to try and sell to us, lol, and we did buy mariachis! After that I visited Coyoacan and the blue house that Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived in. It was pretty cool to see Kahlos bed and wheelchair.
