Landed at San Carlos de Bariloche in Patagonia after a smooth flight via Lan. We arrived at 8.30 pm to bright sunlight and a few degrees change in the temperature. It was still daylight well after 10 pm. The organisational arrangements are still running smoothly, although a slight hiccup over the room allocation in our '4 star' hotel - maybe once a long time ago. However the whole place is 'quaint' with a feeling that we could be in Austria or Switzerland. There are wooden chalets and ski lifts, and I bet the odd cuckoo clock to boot. The whole town is a monument to the tourist - loads of shops, restaurants - and backpackers, coach tourists and chocolate lovers.
