From non blonde

Brandi Veretto

Hello world! I'm a 26 year old pretend blonde that up and left my life in Lubbock, TX about 8 years ago to move to New York City. Now, Im up and leaving the big apple for a whole new adventure throughout southeast Asia and wherever else the wind, or floodwaters as it were, might take me. I try and live life open to new experiences and cultures. I will try anything once! Well, except eating any sort of bug, or handling snakes in any way, ohhhh and feet.. Dont like em, won't touch em! But other than that up for anything! So I'm hear to life and meet some cool people and boldly go where no man has gone before, or something.
A little back ground for the blog, I'm traveling with my friend Kristen , she will also be referred to as Kiki, and sometimes the keeks.. Thank you for your patience

Waking up and listening to our neighbor heaving out internal organs and regretting everything he did last night I decided it's time to write about my adventures in Vang Vieng and Pai... So Vang Vieng is popular party seeking destination. Despite it's beautiful surroundings and spectacular trekking options, most people are there for the tubing, and even if they weren't they soon find they'll be doing little else. So basically, you rent a tube and float down the river with bars everywhere along side. As you float, rather you want it to or not, weighted plastic bottles will land perfectly in your lap making refusal to the bar all but impossible. Of course it's really not that impossible some of us are just weak willed and easily awed. Upon entering any bar you are offered Lao ... read more

Over the past couple of days we have been participating in loi krathong and yi peng festivals in chiang Mai. Loi Krathong festival involves floating lotuses in the river, basically minature floats made if leaves and flowers with incense and candles are lit and sent off down the river. The yi peng coincides in the north ( which is where we are) with Loi Krathong. Yi Peng is a beautiful and dangerous display of paper lantern set off in the sky. The hot spots to set off the lanterns is on the bridge. Fireworks are being set off everywhere, but not in an official way just everyone who bought fireworks on the street setting them off whenever they feel like is a good time, regardless of space. Kristen and I bought 7 lanterns....perhaps too much bc ... read more

Ok well sorry for the long delay... Due to inundation in Bangkok our wifi was out and i didn't want to have to rush things bc I was being charged ... I know I'm cheap but it's a budget trip. Since my last update we moved to khao sahn road in Bangkok. It's a crazy street that's open all day with shops and all night with bars, aka way too easy to spend way too much money! And we did. However, we did hang out with some really amazing people out there. First, we met this gigantic frenchman named Ludo, who is freaking awesome, after we spent a million dollars at the moon bar (moon bar has amazing views of Bangkok with really over priced drinks and a dress code that Kristen didn't fit :( ). ... read more

Well we made it! This entry is going to be longer bc well its my first day! First let me say that Asiana Airlines is by the far the best airline ever! Even in travel class, as they call it, the seat are wide and the leg room is ample... It's still economy but it's more than you would normally get. Food is also amazing in flight and flight attendants were extremely attendant , HA! We had a 4-5 ish hour layover in Seoul. If you're there and have time i highly recommend wandering around. They have a couple of cultural centers with arts and crafts (seriously) dress up photo opps, and games. It's a really great way to kill time in an airport, and only increased my desire to spend some time touring Korea! We ... read more
