Today was an awesome day. First of all was a teaching from Pastor Fredy on Acts 8:26-40, when Phillip meets the enuch who is reading the book of Isaiah, even though he does not understand it. In verse 36 it says "Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” After the Spanish service a group of us drove to Gualaceo to where the Paute River is lower and slower and had a Baptism Service with the help of the pastor and members of Calvary Chapel Gualaceo. There were eight members of our church, all Ecuadorian, that professed a desire to be Baptised. What a tremendous opportunity for us Gringos to join them in their profession of faith. Almost every November in the States, since we gave our lives to Christ, we prepared shoe boxes filled with various items for children in third world countries that were collected by our church and then sent to Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan's Purse is an evangelical Christian humanitarian organization that provides aid to people in physical need as a key part of Christian missionary work. The organization’s president is Franklin Graham, son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham. The name of the organization is based on the New Testament Parable of the Good Samaritan, in which Jesus uses a parable to teach people one form of the Golden Rule; "love your neighbor as yourself". Well, it has been a while since I posted anything. I am sure glad that we are not working down here, because we are too busy to do that. I have dedicated today to catching up on the blog, so you will see three entries today. First of all is our Cruise to the Bahamas: In January we took a trip to the States. We flew from Cuenca to Quito, had about a 6 hour layover there, and then we flew to Miami. The Quito airport is brand new, less than a year old. But as you can see by the pictures it has hardly any traffic compared to US airports. Well, this is a little out of date, but it was a great day. We left home about 7:30 and went to Michael and Jenny's house to pray before leaving for the orphanage. We took a very nice bus ride for about an hour into the Yungilla Valley. You just tell the driver or the money taker that you want to get off at the orpahange and they pull to the side of the road to let you out. $1.50 per person. On the ride down we saw a bunch of motorcycles pass by including one person dress as Santa Claus/Papa Noel. Then we passed them at a roadside store where they had stopped for a drink.
