We're just back from a 5 day stay in Broome, in the very North West of Australia and it was sweet as Bro. We're back in our base camp of Port Hedland, where we stopped on the way up to Broome too, it's a huge distance to get anywhere here and you have to just stop somewhere as you cannae drive through the night or you'll kill a million Kangaroos. I'm not joking, you can only drive after dawn and before dusk or you'll nail something, kanga, cow, emu, there's loads of road kill all over the joint, at least 40 kangaroos every 100 KM's, no joke, murder it is I tell thee M U R D E R. Anyway it's Andrew back on the airwaves, DJ Mudpie if you will, I dinnae ken, it just ... read more

Just as well it's only an overnight stop in Carnarvon, the place is a bit of a hole for want of a better word. A less sulubrious venus is how Andrew would put it I think. We only stopped here to break up the journey North and our accomodation was a palacial 1970's static caravan with full floral decoration and chemical toilet. Andrew (not used to the caravan high life) spent most of the night lying down after continually bumping his head on something every time he moved. I convinced him it would be safer if he just stayed still.... read more

Two nights in Kalbarri allowed us to explore the National Park. The red dirt track did little for the increasingly orange 'Buck' but had to be done to witness the Z Bend Gorge, Natures Window and the Murchison Gorge. Indeed.... read more

Booyakasha!! - Can I get a reeeeeeewind???? I'm back on these pages after an absence of a month or so, so how the hell are we? Anyway, enough about you, let's talk about us for a while. Sooooooooo, where are we? Well today(ish, actually last week) we're in this bizarre place called Hutt River Province. Hutt River Province is an independent soverign state in the middle of Western Ausralia, "what" I hear you say, "just like Monaco?" Yes, just like Monaco and Hong Kong come to mention it. Let me take you back to where it all began, are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin. In 1969, a farmer from Western Australia, Sir Leonard Georges Casley opposed himself for the first time to his administration of custody. Owner of an important farm, Sir Leonard Casley was ... read more

A long drive to Cervantes to see the Pinacles Desert and it's getting pretty hot again, as it does when you're in the desert I suppose. This little Spanish themed place was, well, little and Spanish like, in name anyway. It's geared up for tourists to see the Pinnacles and there's isn't much else to tempt the traveller. Anyway, the pictures pretty much show you what we saw, basically a lot of sand and lots of pinnacles of various shapes and sizes, nice to see and great to play hide and seek!!... read more

The weather has perked up nicely for our trip to the beautiful Margaret River Region. It's just a perfect setting for a wee trip to sample the region's local delights. Number one on the list wine, wine and more wine as well as some cheese, venison, olive oil, and most importantly for me a wee trip down to Willie Wonka's. The wine was good as was the cheese, venison and oil and the chocolate certainly didn't let us down, however I was pretty dissappointed I didn't see any Oompah Loompah's! The tour was done really well by this guy called Tony who was an ex surfie Margaret River local. There were only three others on the tour so it wasn't to rushed. Afterwards we returned home a little confused about the art of wine tasting, quite ... read more

The coastal scenery on the way to Margaret River was pretty amazing. We stopped off in a wee place called Augusta to see Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and to see where the Indian meets the Southern Ocean. Finally we got some sunshine and we got some nice pictures of the sun setting at Cape Leeuwin. Augusta looks like a lovely place, unfortunately we have a date with Margaret River (the winery region) so we set off with alcohol in mind!! ... read more

'Castle Rock' was a recommended hike in the guide book so off we went to find it in Porongurup National Park. It was a drizzly, foggy day but we made the most of it and hiked for 4 hours to try and see the 'spectacular' view amongst the fog. The hike was fairly easy until the last 20 minutes when we had to scramble over and under rocks and through caves. After scrammbling through the last cave I thought the hard work would be immediately rewarded with the styunning view, unfortunately we still had to climb up a long, rusty and slippery ladder to the very top of 'Castle Rock'. Andrew bravely went up first as I lingered at the bottom contemplating the steep ladder (heights are not my favourite things!) I eventually decided to make ... read more

On Saturday we visited some of the natural wonders on offer in and around Albany. Beginning with the Natural Bridge - just as it sounds a 'natural bridge' made from rock with waves crashing around it. The Natural Gap was next - a 'U' shape cut into the rocks which made for some spectacular crashing waves.... read more

A trip to Pemberton and we arrive at the amazing Tingle Tree Forrest. It is basically a suspension bridge constructed among the tops of some very large and very old trees.
