"California here I come...." Packing my bag - including some culinary gear - and heading out on Tuesday. Looking for some sunshine after a long winter.
Howard Hughes While at the Queen Mary, did you happen to walk over to the building that housed Howard Hughes' famous flying wooden ship? That is truly awesome to walk into that building, and suddenly be confronted by this plane suspended from the ceiling, in ths humidity controlled hanger.
Keep those travel reports coming. They are really appreciated by this 81 year old codger...
Love to Joan. Travel safely. Hope to see you soon.

none Good to hear from you as it has been a long time; leaving you up in Wash. with Dwight 's family in January.
We had a storm that delayed our departure for Kiawah. Our neighbors were going thru a rough time that week. They lost a 21/2yr old great grandson and greatnephew suddenly from H3 N3 virus. Terribly sad for all of them.
Our trip down was uneventful. We saw our last snow on the ground north of Indianapolis which had ice covered trees from an ice storm they had while we got the big snow in Chi town. We had 20 plus inches which required having to shovel half way down and then snow blow it. A neighbor saw this as she drove by and told us to use their big blowe. This was a gift from heaven as we were about to tackle the end of the drive which was waist high with plowed snow. UGH.
Enjoying great weather in Kiawah this year.
Jim and Charlie arrived safely in Costa Rica after leaving on a red eye flight Tues nite in a horrible rain.
Nice to know where you are. Are you going to the NBA All Star game Sunday? Love, m
Miss you guys! Hi Dwight & Joan!
We miss you a lot around here - especially during the big snow storm. I can remember being helped by Dwight so many times during big snows. FYI, we got a snowblower this year, so I was able to pay it forward!
Looks like you are having a wonderful time in your travels. Keep posting, I love reading about what you're up to!

it looks like you are having a great time. Lee and I are in Savannah and I am taking up golf, no snow here, glad you are out of the snow, Lee is very happy here without the snow, last year we had 82 inches, he said no more winters. Let us know where you settle, Patrick, Bridgette and Braegen are in SF. We will be out there this year some time. Keep in touch, thanks for the blogs, they are fun to read. Georgie
To My Favorite couple Hi Marco & Mrs. Polo;
This part of your trip awakens memories for Alice and me. We made that journey from northern CA to LA many years ago. Oh how I envy you both as I look over this snow that we just had. Front yard has a mountain of 10 feet of snow to look at, as I remember Montery Penninsula and playing Pepple Beach.
The drive down the coast was something we will never forget.
Beautiful...Beautiful...Beautiful...Please continue to travel safely. We want you back. Ken & Alice Bower

Sounds like you had a wonderful visit in Washington.
Travel safely and keep me posted. I still have my map with
all of the pins in it, covering your trip west. Now, I will
follow with equally great interest your trip back east.
A word of caution, take your time. We are having a lousey
winter..very cold..snow freezing rain..etc. Take your time out west, and enjoy yourselves before you come back to antarctica.
Ken
Hi What a sad situation. All the fond memories you all must have of a wonderful beach home now coming to an end... Sounds like you have a great routine going up there. We are still mooching off of Erin & Todd. Hoping to head home on Monday, weather permitting... 45* better then mid-teens & colder @ home. Poor Sarah has been in the deep freeze all week. Say hi to Ben &Jen .FYI: We are looking forward to a Packer victory Sunday.....Erin is nervous, you never know what the outcome between those 2 teams will be!! So we won't be doing any trash talking, don't want to jinx them. My dad would be so proud of her !! She is die hard just like he was. Love to all
none Joan and Dwight, please give our best to all of Rose family.....hope all of you continue to enjoy one another despite the rain and consequences.
How awesome that Ben and J have the opportunity to meet the family in Washington. Love, M
