Copredy
In early August (8-10) there is the Copredy Folk Festival run by Fairport Convention - doubt that you'll be back for that but you're missing Alice Cooper and 10cc and others! All the place names you are passing are becoming so familiar now. It's windt cold and wet here - soon be "mid summer's" day! Sarah

Not too bothered about Alice Cooper thanks but the others would be good - and no, we're not turning round!

Good reading
Have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and the photos. Glad all is going well and that Mitchell Narrowboats didn't rip you off - we do become very cynical don't we? Scenery looks great and what a time you will have going over your diary and remembering the adventure. Hope the weather holds for you. We seemed to have finished summer here on Saturday! The longest day is not far away so be careful when the nights draw in! Take good care and loads of love Jan & Jan xx

Many thanks. Have you been to Tewkesbury yet or is it this week? - have a good time there. Love Helen

Hello its me again!
Hello Helen, hello John, Sorry have not sent you a msg this week, the week has flown by and just had time now to drop you a line. Further adventures I see, what with getting stuck, the speed merchant and having to pay an exorbitant amount for a four pinter, commercial enterprise at its best! It was good to see John looking fit and well this week, unfortunately I was rushing around 'dusting' after the builders and that was a bit of a task I can tell you. All done now though, and looking forward to finally finishing the works lets say within the next couple of weeks. What a bind the weather has been, last week was lovely and this weekend promised so much, 'Friday hottest day of the year'....well where did that disappear to? Well wishing you an exciting but not such an eventful week this week, and lets hope flaming June gets her finger out and starts living up to her reputation :) Have fun and look forward to hearing more from you in the coming days. love to both, and of course love to Hattie Amanda x
10th June 2013

You must be so pleased the works are nearly over - it's fun to start with and you don't have to dust whilst they're there but it does all catch you up in the end. Hope you have a more relaxing weekend this time and thanks for reading and commenting on the blog. Love to you both, Helen & John

torcello
St Barnabus certainly does look like Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on Torcello. That also has a canal near by! The famous Cipriani restaurant, frequented by this family on the odd occasion, is now even more exclusive since it costs a lot more than your moorings fees to get to the island. Gone are the days when no-one really knew it was there. Once again - entertaining and informative travel report (blog is rather unromantic a word....) s

Great diary - thanks!
Really enjoying your blog. The photos and commentary really do bring your trip alive! Sorry that you felt vulnerable but glad that everything worked out ok....this time tomorrow your "knight in shining armour" will be back to protect you. In the meantime - take care and leave Hattie as your guardian. Had to postpone our trip to The New Forest but still scheduled for Tewkesbury next week. Glad weather has improved for us all - looking forward to your next update. Love to all Jan & Jan xx

Summer is here!
Morning Helen, morning John Thank you for your further updates and great pictures, we are also pleased you were able to 'pump out' although probably not the best comment to read while having breakfast! Abingdon sounds lovely and now it is on our list to visit, each year we do say we should take a few drives out and perhaps an overnight stop somewhere, your blogs have now stirred us into action, so I will definitely be planning a few away days/nights during the summer months. Have another adventurous day, looking forward to more news soon x

green
The green grass looks absolutely lovely, oh I really am .... green...with envy. The sun is shining here and the garden is very green, but it's not near a canal and we are not on a boat. Enjoy the evening. S

Afternoon!
Well it is another wet day here, grey skies and doesn't look like changing. You really are having an adventure, sound like a lot of hard work to me, but I am sure you will come back fitter, faster and stronger : ) We had a nice time last night, we went up to the White Bear with Liz, Richard, Phil, Sandra, Jan and Jan. Booked cab back earlyish but ended up with Jan and Jan and a couple of nightcaps. Needless to say we had a great time all round, although I think David was 'hanging' this morning (translates into hung over) xx Have a super day, will miss you at the next quiz night, maybe we can have you 'live' on the laptop on the table top? Love to both, Amanda

locks
Yes, the weir next to County Lock looks terribly exciting!? Glad you came out only slightly scathed. Blakes Lokc wants me to take up serious gardening. S

It's great to hear the news....
Helen & John, Hi and what an adventure you're having. The rain is dreadful though and so difficult to get dry and warm in a confined space. We've cut short our motorhome holidays in the past as it's impossible when the weather is as bad as this. Still you three seem to be made of sterner stuff. Sorry about your issues with the boat but it's only a trip like this that shows up any problems. Just as well you aren't on a time limit and so can just chill and wait for the locals to sort things out in their time! We're off to The New Forest for 4 nights next week and then Tewkesbury the week after to give the motorhome a trip out, hopefully the weather will get better - it can't possibly get worse can it? Will take notebook and keep up to date with your news. Keep smiling and enjoying the experience. Luv from all xx

Thanks for supporting the blog
and have a wonderful trip - that motorhome wants to travel!

birds
very jealous of the Hobbies - never seen one! Terns have very delicate wings and fly very acrobatically, whereas black headed gulls are more like small herring gulls in appearance (black head notwithstanding!). To further confuse matters black headed gulls only have black heads for part of the year - the rest of the time they just have a black spot on their head. Here endeth today\'s lesson! For homework I would like you to....

Birds
I've spent more hours than I care to count, just trying to identify these wretched birds. Was aware of the change of season plumage and the juvenile/adult mix but still can't get anywhere definite. Definitely not a tern tail but flight more tern than gull - from now on they will be known as birds!

Morning Helen, morning John, Seems like you have had your work cut out over the last couple of days, don't worry the weather has been poor here too. On Friday night it really tipped it down, we ran to the car from the pub and by the time we were inside we were soaked through. However I think drying out here is far easier than where you were. Sun is shining here today, hope the same with you, tomorrow and Tuesday do look good, however Wednesday looks a bit dodgy. I'm off to Tetbury tomorrow and then to Highgrove House Tuesday, will e-mail you some pictures just in case you can see them. Been looking on the map, seems that is near to you? I don't think I can upload pictures to your blog? Love your picture book, some great shots by the way.

cold
yes, really cold, but did you get snow like us?! Keep up the good blog work and glad you have been on your way again. sgs

Morning!
Well what an adventure you have had so far, and only 8 days in! Great photos, but sorry to hear about your gearbox, although pleased to hear you are all washed and brushed up for your next part of the journey. GWR - we have supplied the coal in the past :) love to both and looking forward to your next entry x

Rude - never!!
Dear Helen and John. I would never dream of being rude about lost glasses, overflowing toilets and using all the hot water in the leisure centre!! I think you are doing a fantastic journey and I look forward to reading the blog and seeing the photos daily. Love Salli x

Enjoying the commentary - keep it up!
Caught up on your diary and found it very interesting. I thought this was meant to be a relaxing holiday - sounds like pretty hard work, but fun nevertheless. Just as well you had a spare pair of glasses, it must have been amusing to anyone watching but not so good for you. Couldn't Hattie have jumped in and rescued them? Hope the weather improves as it's dull and cool here with no sign of summer as yet. Enjoy yourselves. Jan & Jan xx
