today's title... sounds like the title of a folk song. Must be the time we've spent at the Broadstairs festival of same, a good few unusual names for songs and groups, "Another Mystery Plant" would easily fit in as a group name - although if we could find the Latin name for it I think that would invoke some imaginative thinking...alas my flower book didn't help this time. Good Morning Morning Helen, John and Hattie,
The wildlife trust sounds fantastic, and I love your picture of the insect hotel. What a pain the Peel Hotel, shame on them, you should put something on TripAdvisor, its just not on! Have a lovely weekend with the family. All quiet on the Kingswood front, however we are going on a Pevensey adventure with the Jans next week. They have kindly invited me, Liz and Sandra for a sleepover for a couple of nights......plenty of fun, frolics, and laughter to be had no doubt. Keep well and love to all - Amanda x
Morning! Hello Helen, John and Hattie,
I am sorry for the noisy 40 somethings, how rude they should encroach on your 'turf', making noise and having fun, and probably drinking too, cant see the point of it myself :)
Looking at your map it seems that you are still, not matter how far and wide you travel, never far from a Hayward (Haywood), Little and Great I see not more than a stones throw.
Have a lovely day today, they say the weather is set fair for this week, so happy chugging!
xx love to all
Amanda
Friends Hi
Our friends who now spend quite a lot of their time here in France were intrigued when I told them of your trip. They have looked at the blog and have found pictures of their boatyard at Wolverhampton in day 42. June is now so fascinated by your tour that she has spent most of the last week charting your progress to date and hopes to continue with your journey to the end.
Unsought fame! Very pleased that June is enjoying it but I am finding it increasingly difficult to make it interesting and without repetition, hesitation or deviation.
Hello Chaps Helen, John, and Hattie, going to be a hot one today. Pinch and Punch first of the month (no returns!). Have a super day, if you have a chance please call me on 07836 350203, just want a quick chat, nothing urgent just about Jim and Pauline. xx
bye for now

Morning.....just Hello Helen, John and Hattie,
What excitement and a real challenge, you must all be fit as fiddles by now, no sitting in the arm chair, relaxing at the allotment, or quietly reading a good book in the garden for the Hamiltons, all hands needed all hands and some by all accounts. Good news is seems the weather is getting better for the weekend, I am off to Margate with my friends for a bit of bonding and chit-chat.
Love the photos, especially the ones the other week of Hattie in full flight jumping into the canal, it reminded me of one of those old flick books....now I am really showing my age.
Love to all,
Amanda
Have a lovely time with your friends in Margate - hope the beach isn't too crowded if the weather's good. Not sure we're fitter than we were - different muscles being exercised though. It seems to be all or nothing, no gentle workouts every day. So glad you liked the pictures of Hattie - I was really pleased with them - I thought of flick books too (:
You're still reading it!! Well done for perseverance I reckon. What's lined up for the summer for all of you then - anything exciting? Also was wondering if Little Sarah has come to any decision about education/jobs? Love H
heron Glad you made it through the tunnel....Your description of the heron made me imagine you sitting very still and gently whispering as though to the television audience, and for those of you listening on the radio, the duck weed is the bright green stuff! Really enjoying sharing your journey. sgs
From Tarangire National Park, Tanzania The lions are about tonight so it is classed as dangerous. If they know where they are then I want to see them, but apparently it is not allowed, we are confined to the lodge!! Enough of that - what a fascinating day you had, all that engineering, I hold have loved it.
Have been avidly reading the blog, even here, where dinner has been a drawn out affair owing to the frequent power cuts. However, when there is electricity, there is free wifi!!
Lions plus. Is this another working holiday or a safari? I'm with you on the lions. I think you should be keeping a blog too, especially with the free wifi. Enjoy the rest of your trip and I'll try and keep my blog interesting for you - H
Still warm? Caught up with your blog. Love the different boat names John & Helen and Pist & Broke amused me! Glad you sorted out the latest problems. I guess it will get busier now as the schools break up for summer so hope you manage to get your moorings ok. Really impressed with you keeping us posted and all the pics. It will be wonderful for you to look back on. Take care and enjoy....Love J & J xx
Thank you for the update Helen, glad you had a most successful day, and met such a good chap in Jimmy. Have a lovely day today, its going to be a hot one here they say +31 degrees, and tomorrow is said to be slightly hotter. When you think how cold and wet it was when you first started out this warmer weather must be a blessing!
Looking forward to your next news
with love
Amanda

In common with many others, we intend going on a cruise in our retirement, albeit a DIY affair. There will be no dressing for dinner at the Captain's table because she's fairly laid back about that sort of thing.
My intention is to write a travel log but I have no idea if we will have adequate broadband access on a daily basis and indeed whether I shall have anything worth saying. Please paste the link below into www.maps.google.com for our projected route plan, which is subject to change depending on:
canal stoppages
flood
drought
time
inclination
