So Singapore came and went without an update so I'll backdate some entries now. The flights to Australia were a mixed bunch. On the first flight (13 hours) I managed to get a window seat next to a friendly Latvian girl I spent time chatting to in between watching several movies. The selection of films was much better than I expected, even though I had already seen most of them. First up was F. W. Murneu's Sunrise, which has been on my to see list for a while. Next was Bernie. An interesting comedy from Linklater and Jack Black. It had a lot to like, especially Black, but overall I'm not too sure. Finally there was Perks of Being a Wallflower. Up at 3.30 to start the long journey to Australia. Taxi turned up on time and dropped me off the bus stop and it was there that I had my first hiccup. Tried to get on the bus using my first mobile ticket but the driver did not have me on his manifest. He kept looking at my ticket and it was the. That I noticed that the date was the 5/5. Tomorrow. I'm not sure if he noticed that but he let me on anyway, which was a relief. No begging necessary. Slept a bit on the bus and arrived at Heathrow. Checking in was painless so at least those e-tickets worked Ok. Security was the next obstacle. The big shock was my arm did not set off the metal detector. I think the guard ... read more

Three Weeks. Five Countries. Eleven Flights. I've decided to keep a blog of my holiday for people to follow without having to worry about the privacy of Facebook or flooding my twitter feed. Only two and a half days until I leave for the first of many flights and things are starting to get real. All flights and hostels booked, now I just have to wait. I've created a montage of the predicted weather for each location. One week is better than here, one week the same and one week worse than home. Two days I wanted sunny are cloudy.
