WOW If anyone could pull this off..you two could. This blog blew me away - your determination to fly..how awesome. Great music to listen to while I read. I love Den's weapon of choice btw lol.
I can hear the little boy in you having the best time of his life with his best mate....this is an awesomely beautiful blog Dave, and the images......stunning. I do hope Denise did the driving. Turquoise is so much her color.
Monument Valley Thanks for reading and commenting KJ. That Hwy 163 is something to behold. We saw it behind as we drove down the hill so had to stop for one last pic of Monument Valley. The snow covered road through the monuments in the valley was more to my liking though.
Those panoramas you got are awesome Monument valley is a place I really want to go to. Those panoramas you got there are really good. They make want to go there even more. Thanks for letting us see your pics. /ake
Those panoramas you got are awesome Thanks Ake. Monument Valley was probably my favourite place on our south west USA roadtrip. The ambience of the monuments and red desert in the snow will remain with me always. Really glad I could photograph it so I could share it with my friends on TB. Glad you enjoyed them.
Glorious! Thanks Josevich. I'm partial to US highways myself. I'm building a collection on the Follow that Road thread in the Photography Forum. After all...I'm on a roadtrip aren't I?
It is ironic that in an era when spirituality may be needed most, we instead choose to pave over the places that ground us. I have heard from a number of people how perfectly peaceful that area of Arizona is; the ideal place to reconnect with the self, the land and our universal souls!
Cheers

the ideal place to reconnect with the self, the land and our universal souls! Another insightful comment Sean...thank you. I had thought the American Indians had been served the dregs when allotting their Indian Reservations. But Monument Valley is a gem...the spiritual home of the Navajo and continues to be so. I hope my pics and prose could give some semblance of what it was like for us to be there.
That horse! The photo of the horse ! It's eyes follow me - how did you manage to get eye contact? I agree with you in that Monument Valley was gobsmackingly awesome -one of my fave places
That horse! I'd been sneaking up on a pie-bald horse and it got sick of my inability to get the shot right and wandered away. The horse in my opening pic even moved to keep his eye on me and...voila...framed just right with the backdrop. It's hairy eyeball was a bonus that scored this shot above others. And how lucky was I to be there with my Annie Oakley look-a-like?
I forgot to comment on this one! I love your mind..when you told me the story of your wood carving I would never have known the story of your cacti exhibiting without reading this again. Love the way our flora inspired words :) looking forward til next time :)
I forgot to comment on this one! The mind is a curious thing Cindy. Who'd have thought me storing cacti in a piece of driftwood would lead to me exhibiting...leading down the track to exhibition woodcarving. Skills I never dreamed I had that through a series of events led to paths unexpected. Isn't life grand if one dares to embrace it?
Astonishing! Thanks Per-Olof. Nice to hear from you. Gotta be one of my favourite places. Gotta admire bird photographers...really hard to actually capture in one's lens!
Love the place....love the blog! We were not there on a photography tour....no monopod yet...but quiet day it was... this place must be one of my favorite spot on earth...
Love the place....love the blog! Delighted to hear from our evergreen traveller, Peter. Many TBers have been here but every visit I am sure results in different colours and shadows on the brilliant textures on show. I can understand why it is a favourite place.
Ridiculously great pic! Dangerous Dave here.....as I recall, you didn't say much about the photo op in Antelope Canyon. Now I know why. No way to describe the colors and shadows that help create great pics like yours!
Ridiculously great pic! Thanks Dangerous One. Really pleasing my pics are appreciated. You are right...they are really just colours and shadows. Some as small detail...others as expanse. I didn't know whether they'd be interesting at all as it's impossible to capture the true effect unless you are there. I reckon without my monopod or a tripod they would not be as clear as the light and shadows are so varied. All told it was great fun for the Dancing Ones as most of our group were professionals!
Beauty I've been wanting to go here for a couple of years now, glad to know about the photography tour- we will definitely be booking it when we finally get there!
My wife Denise & I like to travel "on paths less travelled" that capture our imagination, inspire my photography & where we mix with locals & remain safe.
