This one Gotta agree Peter...the sunset, hands held out in grace, and a bird on the head with another to meet the outstretched hand. Anyway that's how I saw it!
South America Chapters You've always enjoyed exploring South America. I believe Dave and I ate in that restaurant in Arequipa. I'll have to look up the name or we can compare photos. I'm glad S.A. held so many adventures and surprises. Eager to read more.
Chicha por Gaston Acurio This Sth American section of the trip was a revelation full of surprises in so many ways ...a magnificent dessert after our 10 days of schmoozing, bluesing & cruising with you guys. Be it Zig Zag or Chicha por Gaston Acurio the gastronomical delights were our first taste of why Peru is highly regarded for its fusion cuisine. We spent some time with a high end chef from Europe who was in Peru to explore this aspect. Let me know if you ate at one of these top spots in Arequipa.
Doing the South American Two-Step! Great to meet you two dancers down here, and thanks so much for being my sherpas! I love my new camera, and I especially love the fabric band-aids that stay on sweaty, blistered feet! So glad to get you those window seat for Andes flying. And indeed Silencio just couldn't be followed when Denise and I finally met. Looking forward to your further adventures.
Silencio! Don't know the Spanish for "suggestion"...don't know the Spanish for "hard and fast rule". But there are some things I do know Rachael. But that's another story!
At last! I have been looking forward the to South American chapter of these travels for some time. I can't wait to read about your adventures. What a treat to be able to meet Tara too!
Living the life! North - South, and somewhere in between. You are really getting to see the Americas! Dancing, swinging, singing and laughing, and now flying with the condors. I shall be looking forward to your adventures in S. America... Some salsa, some tango, a bit of the mambo and the merengue, I am sure I will see and read about all of it.
Living the life! What a privilege to be able to share the thrills and spills vicariously Ralf as we stumble and rumble...dance and prance...or is it soar and roar...through South America. Enjoy the ride...and thanks for the tip...we'll look forward to the merengue!
I'll join you in tears Great memories over those 17 years - friendships formed, music styles discovered & the excitement as each October long weekend dawned - will need to research for another festival - I won't take this lying down ?
I'll join you in tears Great memories my love...what a privilege to share it with so many great folks...all gathered for one reason...that blues music ministers to the soul. We support live music to keep it alive. Always looking forward to the next gig. Let's head off to one now!
This gig is where legends are made So sad that we will never have this experience. We had hoped to share it with you in the future. Such sad news. Glad you made it 17 years.
This gig is where legends are made Would have been a blast to have you guys come from USA for some hot blues Downunder. Don't fret. I'd make it happen anyway. We see bands each year at GSBF of young musos that show the blues scene is in good hands for many years to come.
Tearful goodbye indeed... I guess I should take solace in the George Harrison song "All Things Must Pass" Per-Olof. Seeing Canned Heat on Sunday...think we'll embrace "On the Road Again." It is sad to see GSBF passing but we will continue to attend as many gigs as possible as supporting live music is so much a part of our life.
It must have been 35 year ago I remember going to a car race once when I was a child. It must have been at least 35 years ago. It was my "second dad" who took me there. I was a young boy I was a very lucky child. I had both my parents happily married to each other who took care of me. But next to the house where I grew up there was a married couple who didn't have any children. They let me roam around their house as much as I liked because then it was almost like they had child of their own. They had all the joy of having a child but none of the troubles and worries. And I had a second set of parents. Your blog entry brought back some fond memories from very happy days. Thanks. /Ake
It must have been 35 year ago Attending Motor racing as a child...very personal memories prompted by my blog...great stuff Ake. I presume motor racing continues in Sweden so maybe it may tempt a return to the racetrack. If so, let me know.
Haven and Hell You are indeed a world traveler and an underworld traveler since you've now been to Hell. Charlie Musselwhite was the bomb and enjoyed talking with him in the lounge as we were leaving the boat.
Heaven and Hell Going on a Legendary Blues Cruise one discovers there are a number of Heavens...and visiting the Caymans I also discovered there are a number of Hells. 'Tis truly an interesting world we live on. One of the pleasures of the cruise was chatting to the artists...nice you could have a chat with Charlie.
My wife Denise & I like to travel "on paths less travelled" that capture our imagination, inspire my photography & where we mix with locals & remain safe.

Great story
I loved Arequipa a lot. Love the monastery and the market. But the best place must be the plaza. Good to see you there and enjoy.
