Chinese architecture is good, but too expensive and timeconsuming, a lot of woodwork, and not a lot people can do it now.
Modern design doesn't mean Western design. it's more simple and easy to do the work ( whole bunch ready-to use materials).
LOL that's not chinglish
at least chinglish make sense to chinese, but this one make no sense to anyone. just used a bad translation software, and nobody even bother to check (why check? nobody read it any way)
1. Sea slugs. They are sooo expensive too! Why?
you mean sea cucumber? that's good, try it!
2. "Assorted heads" on a skewer. I'm just scared to know what that would actually look like.
pig's head is pretty good depends on how you cook it, but no chick or duck head.
3. Donkey meat, which apparently has its own special restaurants.
"天上龙肉,地下驴肉" means In the sky there is the dragon's meat, on earth there's the donkey's meat, but actually most chinese never eat donkey's meat, there just isn't many donkeys in china.
4. Dog meat, which apparently has its own district in Beijing. Where they also have donkey meat.
the best is in the korean restaurant, try it one time if you're not a fundamental dog's lover.
5. Duck necks, which are just everwhere.
not really everywhere, maybe in haining.
6. Cooked while still alive and crawling bugs. Though I feel this is something for the tourists and not actual Chinese food.
true, that kind of things are for brave tourists
7. Jellyfish. I don't actually think this is that weird, given the other things I've seen, but Fernanda put it on the list.
Jellyfish is darn good!! very good side dish.
8. Chicken feet which are also just everywhere.
don't like chicken feet, but ..
9. Drunken shrimp - shrimp you eat while still alive. Fernanda is thankful the restaurant was all out of them when she was at dinner.
better than those bloody steak
10. Just really any body part that we don't normally eat. Whether it's goat tongue, cow stomach...but you gotta give the Chinese credit for their ability to use any part of the animal. Waste not, want not!
Fernanda It looks pretty there! And hang on, after the trip is over you´ll be glad you had the chance to go =) Buuut gotta say that I feel ya...I felt my 8 days was too long...
Fernanda You forgot to mention an important factor that shows how extra famous you are: nobody asked to take pica with me, only u! Dafne, the celebrity ;)

This blog was created in 2007 when I headed to Perth, Western Australia for a year-long study abroad program. There are still lots of great stories and pictures from that trip, though I got way behind on my blogging and the stories end abruptly in September, 2007 (I was in Aus until Christmas Eve!)
Although I've traveled a lot since then, I left this blog in a state of neglect for several years. But I figured another school-related international adventure was a reason to get things started again! In August 2011, I packed up my car and made the drive from my hometown of Toronto to the sunny ... full info
