Day 37 We got off to an early start today, we were all packed and on the road by 8:30, way to go group!! Better than my 9am guess. We had about 300 or so km to get under our belt today and that left us with a slightly tight time limit. First on our list for the day was Wallaman Falls national park with a 280 meter waterfall. Let me tell you the views were stunning, it was sunny and the falls had good flow. It was about a 4km round hike to the bottom and back up. (note to self - 4km in the rain forest requires more water, so after Jackie almost fainted form the heat we made it to the truck to enjoy a nice glass of cool water and we were ... read more

Day 36 Today was a laid back day, we ended up leaving the camp site a little later than planned since we ended up doing some laundry, and just wasting time. Since we are good at that. LOL. Once all our laundry was done, and the truck packed up once again we headed out to find our next stop. On our way we ended up taking a short drive up to a look out, A steep 20* degree climb was had by the truck, and she was working double time to haul us up. But the views were worth it. Later we ended up at toomula beach campground which offered free camping with a bbq. Which is always a bonus. After having some dinner of pasta and sausages we all headed to bed to decide what ... read more

Day 35 Our last day on the ship, well more like half a day. LOL. Today we went to Cave’s Cove on Hook Island to do our last snorkel, which was by far the worst place for snorkelling. The water was a bit colder, and it was extremely murky, but it wasn’t all that bad, I didn’t last long, I was cold and decided to go back and chill out on the sundeck of the ship and read my book. After everyone was done snorkelling we loaded onto the boat and started heading back to the main land! Once we arrived we got some pictures of the crew, and loaded off the boat! Once back onto solid ground we were happy to see that Peana was still in the spot we left here, with no parking ... read more

Day 34 This morning we woke up for breakfast which once again was very good food, they sure are spoiling us on this boat. Ha Ha. We headed to Hill Inlet Lookout to check out the spectacular view of the Whitsunday Island, Whitehaven beach. It was a nice short walk up to the top and some amazing photos were taken although Matt would have preferred if the tide would have been out further so that he could have gotten more pictures of the blue waters and swirling sands but it was still a beautiful view. Next stop off the day was Whitehaven Beach, it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon, Matt and James decided to take a run down to the point which was about 7 km’s away and Sam, Sean and I decided we ... read more

Day 33 Today was a fantastic day, we woke up to amazing breakfast, all the coffee you want for free, which is always for a coffee addict like myself. Lol. After breakfast we headed out to what would be our first snorkel out of 3! Maureen’s Cove was our first stop for snorkelling. It was beautiful, the water was warm, and Matt got to try out his under water camera bag for the first time, which ended up working which was a relieve because no one wanted to see what kind of mood he would have been in if it hadn’t work and wrecked his precious camera. We even lucked out and got to see a turtle, I had just happened to swim out past most of the coral and into the more murky water and ... read more

Day 32 We woke up this morning, packed up and started to head up to Airlie Beach, we arrived just shortly after noon, and took a walk around to see what kind of deals they were offering for a 3 day 3 night cruise around the Whitsundays. Eventually after several discussions on what we would like to do we decided to go into a travel agent and see what she would be able to do for us. Tina was much help for us, she had a deal going on for the Whitsunday Magic which would be $550 a person, rather than the usual $800 per person. So we decided to jump at the chance to go on a tall ship sailing boat. The only catch was that it was already just after 1 pm and the ... read more

Day 30 Today wasn’t much of a very exciting day… we woke up early to notice that they had the markets already set up at 6:00 am! So we took a nice walk around after we packed up camp and then headed out to find our next camp site, which would be closer to the Whitsundays which would be our next big stop. We drove for about 500 km’s which is an extremely long drive with 5 ppl and all our stuff in our little pajero. Finally we arrived at St. Lawerence at around 9 pm, set up camp and had dinner and then off to bed we went! Day 31 Today we woke up early once again, to find out that we had to moved our tents right away considering we were set up in ... read more

Day 27 Hungover… but not to bad I am up and moving at 8am still after shutting down at around 1:30am that last night, but do I ever look in rough shape, and what better way to cure a hangover then a nice 4 hour walk in a sandblow with direct sun and no shade… Now this is something everyone should have to do, and I don’t mean walk it hungover, but check out some big sand dunes and go running down them. Omg… so much fun was had. We found an odd spider with 2 yellow stripes even, by the end of the walk I was feeling a bit better but not much, Sean and James were starting to burn. About 3 hours alter Sean had a healthy red glow to him if you can ... read more

Day 25 Its 10am the truck is packed and we are off the Fraser Island, and upon arriving at the sandy beach I realize this might not be to easy as the sand was about 6-10 inches deep and the truck was having a tough time chewing its was through, we did enjoy a nice 10 minute ferry ride across and arrived to be driving on hard pack sand. Yes! 2wd here we go. We decide to head to small camp on the west side of the island out of the wind, Ungowa, big mistake… it was us and a group of school kids. So basically they kept to themselves and so did we, although the head teacher was super nice and realized we didn’t have enough ice for our beer and donated a huge slab ... read more
