Dawn Cooper

We love to travel & explore the world. We try & travel to a different city every couple of months, taking long weekends & we also take 1 or 2 long haul holidays a year also, usually picking places at random. We love Asia there food, culture & way of life so love spending our time there exploring there country learning there ways & enjoying there food. We are independent travels & love using sites like trip adviser, travel books etc to help us explore the country or city we will be visiting & also help us plan what we would like to do while we are there.

Asia » Japan » Kyoto » Kyoto July 30th 2016

Well after an amazing 1 1/2 days in Tokyo we caught the Bullet train to Kyoto which was pretty straight forwards. The train left bang on time & travelled at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour which sometimes made you feel like you had a bit of motion sickness. We felt like 1 of the locals as we all had bento boxes to munch on the training with Starbucks coffees as apparently that is a Japanese tradition when traveling on the bulllet train. Once we arrived in Kyoto station we went to the information desk eventually as John couldn't figure out where the car hire company was & gave in & let me ask for help. Just a couple of minutes walk from the station we arrived at the car hire desk. We were ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo » Ikebukuro July 28th 2016

Well after leaving home over 24hrs ago & flying for just over 17hrs we have finally made it to Tokyo. The 1st 2 flights were great Manchester to Frankfurt then Frankfurt to Hong Kong, as we all had a good sleep on the long 10 1/2hr flight over & woke up feeling refreshed & excited for our finally leg of the journey. We had what we thought was just over 3hrs in Hong Kong before our final flight but that time soon vanished waiting for our cases to come off the A380 we had just over on. We waited & waited & waited some more watching our layover time slip away quickly. We needed our cases so we could change terminals to re-check in for the final flight. You could see everybody around is starting to ... read more

Well finally 26th July 2016 has arrived. After booking this flight before Christmas last year many things have changed in our travel plans. The most important change was Etihad bumped us but as compensation they offered us a free 5 nite stay in Hong Kong which of cause we thought great but little did we know how much this would throw the plans if started to make out the window!!!!!!! We jumped at the chance of this last minute change & started to plan now we would fit it in but I forgot to do 1 important thing change the hotel booking for our 1st nite in Tokyo & move it forwards by a day!!!! When did I realise this error yesterday morning as I was driving into work at 645am the day before we fly!!!! ... read more

Middle East » United Arab Emirates » Abu Dhabi March 17th 2015

Well we woke up nice & early after a restless nights sleep. I think we both kept waking up as we knew we needed to be up & checked out of the hotel by 830am. John made the coffee as he usually does in the morning while I started gathering our things together to start packing up ready for our flights home. As we made our way down to reception we stopped again to look out at the race track below, you could never tire at looking out at the track. Again as we reached the main lobby the bellboy came racing over to us to take our suitcase from John & the carpark ticket also to bring the car up to us while we were checking out. Pedro was on the reception desk again & ... read more

We parked up nice & easy in the luxury parking again which was free & proceeded into the mall to find some food as by now we were both starving. The ... read more

Well after a long hot drive & a stop off in the shopping mall for down food we arrive at Yas Island. We the drive onto the hotels drive way OMG is all I can say. We had to drive across the F1 racing track just to enter the hotel. We were again greeted by the valet parking guy along with the bellboy taking our case from the car. As soon as we walked into this amazing hotel we both felt scruffy. The hotels assistant manager jumped ... read more

Well we finally landed 2hr later than planned & after a very fast & swift exit threw passport control we were out of the airport within 20-25mins of landing & on our way to collect the car we had hired for our trip. We located the car hire firm nice & easy & less than a 5min walk from the arrivals. The car hire firm were shocked to see us earlier as we had emailed them to let them no we had been delayed but didn't say how long by as this kept changing on us. After John signed a few forms we were shown to our little Toyota yaris. After being shown round the car & handed the keys off we went out of the carpark & off into the city we were headed I ... read more
