Up at 5:30 and out the door with my walking-partner, my son-in-law Todd Edwards. Michelle runs every morning (I am so proud of her). It was eerily foggy this morning, but that didn't deter us. As we climbed up to the edge of a ridge, we saw deer in between the trees, including an albino deer that frequents the hills here in Braddock Heights! I got my camera out too late, but will be keeping my eyes open and camera ready for the next time. Both Michelle and Todd work from home in their respective offices. Michelle has a little aquarium in her office where baby snails were just born. They are so tiny! John and I kept busy on this cloudy and gray morning with a couple of games of Sequence. We have that big ... read more

Leaving Myrtle Beach behind early this morning, I spent the whole day driving north and west through North Carolina, Virginia, through Washington, DC and into Maryland. I hit an hour long delay on 495 getting around DC. Eight long hours of driving - Ugh! I hate traffic - LOL! Michelle's girls are at their father's, and they have a new baby brother, Ryder. Todd's boys, Ryan and John are here for summer vacation and it's great seeing them. Ryan is 16 and John is 14 and they are both into Star Wars. We played a family Sequence game, and now the boys are playing Star Wars video games in the family room. Tonight is going to be an early one for me. Time to catch up on some well needed sleep time!... read more

Perfect beach weather in Myrtle Beach today; sunny, warm and a steady breeze. Walked the boardwalk this morning, saw a few homeless people sleeping on benches, and distant fog hanging along the northern shore. Found a Dunkin Donut about a half mile away, but had to settle for an apple fritter since they didn't make breakfast sandwiches. Tomorrow I will find a real one and not succumb to that temptation again. Chilled this morning and read my book on the beach, walked in the water along the shore and watched the families as they arrived for a day of fun. Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there. Myrtle Beach has a long history with pavilions built in 1902 and amusement parks built on 11 acres in the 1930's. They danced the state dance "The ... read more

Today was a beautiful day in Myrtle Beach. Weather was perfect, the ocean was warm, and the atmosphere was one of normalization: people being people again, most respecting other peoples' spaces. Spent the day with long-time friends, Jim and Maureen Purcell. Jim was my Sergeant and then Lieutenant at the Attleboro Police Department, some 40 years ago. We reminisced about "the old days" way back, when things were so different, especially in light of recent policing news. It's great to catch up with people we were so close with, a tight-knit group of some mostly really great, caring officers. Jim is now a TSA training officer and Maureen works at "The Alabama Theater", the greatest live variety show in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is a great vacation resort on the Atlantic Ocean in South Carolina ... read more

Said good bye to Kyle and Rebecca in Savannah this morning and enjoyed an easy (but slow) ride up 95. Love traveling when I'm not in a hurry, it is much more enjoyable. My condo, directly on the beach was ready when I arrived. I'm on the 19th floor and boy - what a view! What an awesome beach day, sunny and and strong breeze. I love the ocean, the strength, the raw, natural power - it is in command and one must bow to it's majesty and respect it. Myrtle Beach is definitely a party spot. Everyone here is respectful and doing their social distancing. Had dinner at RipTydz and loved the atmosphere and the great, happy vibe of kids, couples and families enjoying their freedom after the lock down. 2020 has been such ... read more

My house is secure, my car is cleaned and packed and I am ready to roll out for my Excellent Summer Adventure. I am so excited! I love to travel and this trip will be about places I'll visit, but more importantly about reconnecting with family and friends. First stop today is with my nephew, Kyle and his fiancé, Rebecca here in beautiful Savannah, GA. Didn't get any time to explore Savannah this trip, but last fall when I was here for a few days, I got to see a lot of the city. I love all the city parks and green spaces - it's a great walking city! The kids and I went to a new restaurant, Current Kitchen and Cocktails on Wilmington Island. I had some great sushi and good wine. We talked ... read more
