We had a great holiday weekend. On Monday Jess and I went down to visit my old neighbor, Maggie Silva. Maggie makes and teaches how to make Nantucket Baskets. She has gardens all around her home and showed us around her 5 acre property. Jess and I headed down to the Cape and had a Seafood Lunch, New England Clam Chowder and Stuffed Quahogs for me! I also visited the horse ranch behind us and connected with Kathie Davenport and her grandson Logan. We could have talked all afternoon about our lives, family and travels we've done or are planing to do. It's so nice visiting and catching up with old friends. This trip continues to be about family and friends.... read more

Big party planned for later today! I got to spend time with my two grandson, Jonathan and Connor and their girlfriends, Hannah and Jillian. They are Mish and Stephen's 2 sons. Jonathan is attending Mass Maritime Academy in Onset and Connor will be a senior at West Bridgewater High. Sammi's boyfriend is Billy and she will also be a senior this year at Bristol Plymouth Tech. Billy has joined the Marines and waiting for his date to report. We had our usual family barbecue with hotdogs and hamburgers, potato salad and chips. Our entertainment included corn hole games, the pool, water gun fights and a campfire. We had S'Mores, Truffle, Brownies and Birthday Cake for dessert. Mish's birthday is Wednesday. Keith's grandkids, Kaylee and Carter are here with him and Jess for the summer. The small ... read more

The Holiday weekend has started although it really doesn't feel like a holiday. Everything has changed because of the Coronavirus. We are having a family cookout Sunday Afternoon, so we went to Costco with our masks for all the fixings. In the morning we took the kids to the playground and in the afternoon we were in the pool. We played Scrabble after the pool and I won. I got some great letters and Jess got all vowels. She took revenge on me in the Train game that night and beat me up pretty badly. She won 9 out of 13 games and won with 176 points to my 588 (low score wins). OOCH!... read more

Cool and drizzly for this morning's walk
I always loved this big old tree

Got up early and walked my old route I used to walk for years here. There has been a lot of changes, forests gone and new houses and street have taken their place, but there is a lot that has not. Old farms and same neighbors are still around. Jess and I played Scrabble out by the pool, while they kids swam. It got really cool with a damp wind blowing late afternoon and we all had to get warm clothes on. When we went in for the day, Keith made all of us girls Coconut Rum Breezes (and not just one - ha ha). Samantha Drass (they call her Dill) is my granddaughter, Samantha Drass's (we call her Sammi Lou) sister-in-law. Dill made Chicken Pot Pie for dinner and it was delicious. Good News - All the lights went off on the dash of my car during the cool of the night and I was able to leave Maryland and head to Massachusetts. I left around 7:30 and drove through Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut and finally arrived in Massachusetts a little after 4pm. There was lots of traffic in NY and when I got to MA a lot of cars seemed to be headed to Cape Cod for the Holiday weekend. Jessie was home to greet me, along with Carter, Kaylee, Sammi Lou and Connor. Great to be here where I spent so many years. Jess is like my daughter, we lived in the same house for a lot of years. I was here for the birth of Sammi Lou and Brooke Doo. We don't ... read more

Up and walking by 5:30, so we actually saw the sunrise this Tuesday morning at 5:41 am. Reds and then oranges burst into the clouds making for a colorful expression of nature. Having fun with the kids doing TikTok videos, check the one having fun in the pool. I decided to try one for myself - lol! What do you think! Spending the days by the pool, my tan is looking really Floridian. Too badI have to leave Florida to take the time to relax and spend sometime in the sun. Todd and I have been having a Sequence Challenge over the last 10 days, I finally caught up to him and am now ahead of him 17-16 games. Tonight we finish, wish me luck. Tomorrow is a travel day. Heading to MA to see ... read more

Awesome weekend at Hotel Edwards! The breakfast wraps here are unbelievably delicious. Todd is chief cook and bottle washer and come to think of it laundryman, gardener and all around great Dad. Dinners are also amazing, like the Cod and Veggies we had for dinner last night! I'm loving the morning walks, the air is cool and the mountains are a nice change from Florida! My days are spent with grandkids at the pool, making cookies, and sharing meals. The sunset walks are even more spectacular! Tonight's was especially beautiful! When I got back I found Renee out practicing here Lacrosse. She plays in tournaments all over the east coast. Hopefully one day she'll get a scholarship with her field skills!... read more

Family Fun is the best fun! Morning walks, wild life viewing, swimming in the pool, and walking through the gardens on the grounds are all spectacular ways to spend my days. The flowers in Michelle's Gardens are blooming beautifully. The highlight of Saturday night was the Edwards/Gouker 3rd Annual Ice Cream Off. Todd made Sea-salt Caramel and Cherry Garcia ice cream and Don made Caramel Crunch and Mint-Chocolate Ice cream Pie. The winner for the third year in a row was Don Gouker, with his Caramel Crunch. Todd's Cherry Garcia came in second. The sky was a glow this evening with PINK. The end to a perfect day.... read more

Climbing the ridge this morning on our walk, Todd and I saw the Albino Deer! He was just standing there posing for us in between the trees. What an amazing site! It's great spending time with the grandkids. Rachel worked most of the day at her job at CVS. She has been promoted to Shift Supervisor. This young lady just graduated from high school and she is heading to Duke University in August. Renee and I had some bonding time together today. She is the most fun for me and we are a lot alike! We bought the other kids M&M's and bought ourselves some Starbuck Frappuccinos and our own small containers of ice cream since Moore's Ice Cream Shoppe is still closed. It was a beautiful afternoon to spend in the pool, and most of ... read more

The girls are finally home for the next week! The boys are happy and so is Grammy! The boys and I drove down to Baker Park and walked through the park and along the Carroll Creek River. We saw loads of Canadian Geese and ducks along the river including four baby ducks being safe-guarded bother Mama. Frederick was founded in 1745 and is now 275 years old. There is a lot of Civil War History in the area. I am not in favor of tearing down all the monuments. I think we need to learn from the mistakes of the past and not pretend it never happened. Let's keep our history in tact and teach the mistakes we made to our school children so they can learn how to change the world to make it ... read more
