Myrtle Beach is the hub on the Grand Strand, a 60 mile string of beaches along the SC coast. Along with the great beaches, there are spectacular golf courses, making this a great vacation destination. There are boardwalks and all kinds of entertainment; arcades, amusement rides, and the scariest bungy jump chair I have ever seen. It's a fun family place to be. I spent a relaxing day on the beach. It was an awesome day; the weather, the ocean, the atmosphere, and the people were all perfect. Any of you that know me and follow me on Facebook, know I am up in the morning and on the river in Sebastian taking sunrise picture. I was up late but got the sunrise sky here from my 12th floor unit. A short while later I turned ... read more

Yesterday was all Interstate-95 driving and stressful in spots. Today was all back county and country roads and it was relaxing and enjoyable. Leaving Savannah and heading north took me over that really high bridge I photographed last night on the cruise and I was immediately in South Carolina. Being in no hurry, I took a ride off my route and headed for Hilton Head. My plan was to drive down the beach strip and see how things had changed since the last time I was there. I think that was almost 20 years ago. Unfortunately my GPS didn't cooperate and took me the some city building in Hilton Head which was nowhere near the beach. Leaving there I realized I was going the wrong way and ended up at a Wildlife Preserve. That was a ... read more

The flowers are beautiful and I alway love seeing the neighbor's horses out in the corral. The clouds were threatening. Went to dinner with two friends that I worked with before moving to Florida. I caught up with Heather and Katy on their lives and their kids. The oldest ones are almost full-grown and I remember them when they were babies and even Heather before she was married. We has some fun times together then. When I got home Jess made me a drink which practically knocked me out, it was so strong. We started but never finished a game of Mexican Train. Thursday was my last day with the kids and grandkids. Mish and the boys came over to say good-bye. It was so awesome spending two full weeks with my awesome family! I have ... read more

It rained for 1 hour between 8-9 am, which was truly amazing because that is exactly what the weather report called for. It was right for once. I had planned on stopping to visit my niece Tanya and the kids, but plans changed. I really like the back roads route I had planned through RI and into CT so I decided to take the roads less traveled. I traveled Route 44, Route 6 and Route 66. It was awesome looking at farmlands and ponds and nature! Beats the highways anytime. I drove through the little town of Pomfret Center, which is quite quaint. For a time I worked in Portland, CT and liven the next town of Middletown, CT. I stopped to do a hike at the Wadsworth Falls State Park. It was a great hike ... read more

There are mushrooms growing every and they all popped up like overnight. Cicada killer wasps everywhere and I killed this one as he dove into his hole with a Cicada. Pool days and nights with the little ones has been so much fun. It nice to have little ones under feet. Drove to Pawtucket to visit my cousin Carol Perrault. She has some amazing Bearded Dragons who she took out a feed worms to when I was there. I went to Stephen's Corner Cemetery to pay my respects to my paternal grandparents, but could not locate their plot. Grandma France and Grandpa Chet Quimby. I did find the Witherell/Cash relationship and Myrtle Witherell, who I remember as a child. Directly across the street was the farm, where as kids we would ride a bicycles and pick ... read more

Plymouth is on the agenda for today. Brooke and I went for a ride to check on the graves of my grandparents and family members in St Joseph's Cemetery. It's nice to know the names of your ancestors. I remembered a few names from when I was younger, or I recognized the names of others from family stories. My grandfather died 2 weeks after I was born. I never got to meet him, of which I am sad. My Nonee lived to a ripe old age and she was in my life for over 35 years. Her family lost a few members to the Spanish Flu, in the pandemic of 1918 and they are buried here. We drove next to Plymouth Rock and the waterfront where I have visited since a young child. The Mayflower replica ... read more

Took a trip to Attleboro today and visited my old stomping ground. The house my grandfather built for us circa 1946 is still standing. The house and yard that accommodated 8 of us, that I thought were so large as a child, now appear so small. I took a picture of the Briggs Corner School, a 3-room elementary schools I attended grades Kindergarten through 4th grade. When my sister Diane attended there, just three years before me, it had 7 grades in this 3 room building. I also remembered the Briggs Corner Store, which was just a shack when I was young, is still in the same spot. As kids we would pick up bottles on the side of the road and would purchase penny-candy with the 3-cent reward. I also visited my Aunt Alma and ... read more

Jess and I took her grandchildren, Kaylee and Carter to Mish's house to see her animals. Mish has a rafter of white baby turkeys, a flock of hens, a raft of ducks, a nye of pheasants and some bunnies. The kids enjoyed holding and chasing the animals and collecting the chicken and duck egg. Jonathan has a collection of cattle and bull heads, some of them pretty gross, like the one that hasn't dried out yet. I will spare you the picture.... read more
