Pucon was meant to be a relaxing time fopr us after the madness of St Patricks Day so when we got there we checked into a nice quiet hostel. It was a wood cabin with an open fire and we were picked up from the bus station which is always a plus!!! Activities we got up to here was; Climbing the Volcano. Took 5hrs to climb and turned out to be one of the toughest things i have ever had to do. We had to get up at 5 in the mrorning and start trekking at 5.30. It was not the prettiest of sight but it was an achievement in itself. Sorcha nearly fainted after 5mins but she did manage to climb the whole way. Was so proud of her!! White water rafting. !st time ever ... read more

After a 16hr bus journey from Ushuaia we were delighted to arrive to a lovely hostel called I Kew Ken Hostel. We arrived in at 11pm and while we were just settling to go to bed, a swiss guy said to us that he and 2other swiss Ruth and Julius had rented a car and were heading to the Glacier Perito Moreno at 6am, and if we wud like to go it would be great as the cost would not be as much and we would get into the national park for free seen as we would get there so early. Naturally we accepted and were wrecked gopin but the pics and scenery was amazing!!! It ended up costing us about 40euro each. It was an all day cruise and so we were wrecked by the ... read more

Ushuaia We got a flight from B.Aires to the most southerly village in the world. When we arrived, we were surprised, no snow or rain, we could walk round the town in a t-shirt. Weird!! Things we did: Went out on a boat, saw lighthouse, sea lion and bird colony and visited an island where the natives lived. Saw archaeolgical sites where the natives lived. Visited the museum, old prison and learned about the history Ushuaia. Was interesting enough and was weird when we started hearing noises in the cells and seen as though we were the only people in the basement floor, sorcha got scared and wanted to go. Stayed 3nights here and i didnt feel was worth the visit cos it cost 130euro each for flight from B.Aires and 70euro each for a bus ... read more

South America » Argentina » Buenos Aires » Buenos Aires February 20th 2009

Buenos Aires was a great city. For the first 3nights we stayed in a double room in Hostel Obellisco on Avenida de Corrientes. This was the first major city that we´ve been to and boy was it mental. We had heard that the steak here was amazing so we obviously had to get 1 straight away. Mine was nice but sorchas was really good. For 7euro we could get fillet steak, veggies and potatoes and it was easily the nicest steak ive tasted. (apart from Rosie O´Gradys in New York) We walked all over the city everyday!! I was really hot and after the third day we moved to an irish hostel called Hostel Clan. This hostel was mental, really hard to sleep if your not drunk goin to bed. I didnt hav a problem with ... read more

We stayed in a small hostel called Che Pampas which was located centrally and was good fun cos the owner/worer actually took the time to get to no us!!! We stayed in dorms with 3-4other Argetinian girls which sorcha didnt like cos they were noisy at night and in the morning!!! I thought they were grand but thats cos theywere nice to me the night before cos sorcha went to bed and i stayed up drinking!!! Cant remember anyones names but they were grand!! Foz de Iguazu / Puerto Iguazu When we arrived here, we were after getting off an 18hr flight at 8 in morning and so after sleeping most of the journey we ended up in Foz de Iguazu which is on the Brazilian side. We had only planned on staying here for 1night as we heard that the argentinian side of the falls were much better. When we went to see the falls we were amazed at the mass scale of the falls. On the brazilian side you get the whole panoramic view of the falls, which astounded us both. As you can see from the photos it was amazing. It was valentines day so we decided to hav a meal along the river Iguazu, just as a treat to ourselves. Really romantic it was, (Yeah right, ... read more

Florianopolis; This was easily the nicest place we had been to so far!! We stayed in Lagoa Hostel which was a bit of a shit hole but it was central and we cudnt ask for more. The old guy at the hostel did turn out d lights at 12 on d button but dat didnt matter cos we were well nd truly hammered by dat time anyway!! People dat we shared our room wit were cool aswell so dat made up for alot of it!! We were about 15mins on bus away from the many beaches they had there but the best part of the beach was the size of the waves. Sorcha didnt head in cos of her new fear of d sea but i loved it. The waves were massive. The beach was full ... read more

We asked the girl at the hostel in Copacabana where would we go for diving and snorkelling, she advised us on a remote island called Ilha Grande. So off we went- As you can see we had a great time here, stayed in a hostel called Hostel Aquarius and it was right along the beach. The island probably took about 7hrs total by bus and by boat. It was amazing. No atms on the island but we were fortunate enough to exchange dollars for Brazilian reais but at a price. The lady basically raped us with the exchange rate. We ended up chatting with some people on the boat over and turns out we were all stayin in same hostel. U will see all in the photos and names will be noted on all. We stayed ... read more
