Good grief! These pictures make me jump out of my skin wishing to be there or somewhere. Some of the photos did not have explanations in this post, just file numbers. I don't know if that's true for everybody's edition of this post but I suspect you would have put some kind of a label on that dog on a carpet. None the less I know what muscles are and fries or rather chips... And beer period for heaven sakes stop it! Not really....❤❤❤
You sure covered a lot of ground! Some of my favorite places. I just realized it's been 18 years since I've been to France and looking at your shots makes me feel like I was there yesterday. It looks a little chilly hopefully not wet. Sorry about your ticket trials. Hopefully smooth sailing the rest of the way.
Why do I read your blog when I'm hungry? When there's nothing in the house to eat? Damn, girl! That lasagna looks amazing! Too bad about the rain. I hope it comes and goes like here in Portland. It's actually only just starting to rain today. It's been nice low temperatures high 60s low 70s. So I assumed I didn't really have to water... I was wrong. Poor droopy plants. So glad you're loving your Journeys. Thanks for sharing. I'm very good at pretending I'm there.
Wow! You two are covering some territory! How beautiful that balloon festival must have been. The sites are gorgeous everywhere. Wondering if you have had have any good seafood since it's all about water everywhere around you it seems. Love that end where you had hot chocolate. Look like a dream. Thanks for sharing!
Messages Hi
A few days ago I responded to a couple things that would show up on your FB or Messenger. But unless I did something accidentally, I haven’t done it again.
Hope all is well with you and Fae. We will leave the Puglia area tomorrow (Monday) and head up the coast toward a small town about 30 min. From Venice. We Will take about 3 days getting there. Have a house at that end for a week.
Love to you
Jolene
Glad you still have some sunshine and warmth left there. Yesterday at the Island Cafe we had the most perfect weather. No more. Today at 68 totally grey. Tomorrow rain. Scratch Miss Winnie goodbye for me. And have a fabulous launch into the rest of your new world.
LOL about your haircut experience. Geez.,,. Hope it wasn't cold when you went out with a wet neck! But yeah, the haircut is worth it. Very nice. Are you going anywhere where there will be a cockney accent? My favorite. I listened to so many recordings when I was doing Eliza Doolittle in my fair lady about a million years ago. Who knows where your new talent for distinguishing English accents will come in handy. Kiss the snoring Kitty for me.
Accents Diane, I think London is where the Cockneys are... I can distinguish blue/white collar speech, and sense when someone’s from the country, but I find it impossible to imitate any of it - way too nuanced and complex! ?
Great photos! As always, you have a good eye ? for a great photo. Did you get a video of your tour guide?
Chris & Barb had a rescue Greyhound.. Monty was the sweetest, most loving dog I’ve ever known? Fun to see the Greyhounds in your gallery. Have fun with Fae?
Video Thsnks, Barbara - yes, got video of the guide, but only a tame bit (and still haven’t figured out how to post videos here - nor even how to edit typos in my own response/comments, dagnabbit!) happy to say folks were chucking money at the greyhound rescue folks, I had to break the line to get the shot! ?
Hello Your experiences sound wonderfully intergrated with the your community, and your desires and interests. Which is your signature travel style I admire so much. Have fun with Fae. Even tho I’m having a wonderful time here in Italy, I admit to a very real and sharp pang of regret that I’m not the one joining you on Tuesday.
I’m likely the world’s photographer, able to make the Adriatic Sea look like a puddle in the road, so please, If you so wish, google these cities to get a good idea of where I am: Ostuni, Bari, Alberobello. This last one is really unique and interesting , as is everything, in its own way. Until this coming Monday We are staying outside Ostuni in 3 or 4 hundred yr old stone Villa surrounded by vineyards, olive, fig and pomegranate trees. Cacti, tropical flowers rioting around and lots of good wine! The villa has been in the same family from the get go. The youngest member, a young guy in his 30’s has been very good to us and helpful with good advice and directions! City maps are only useful if the city Fathers adhere to them by actually affixing street names and numbers to said street, which they mostly don’t. We are going to the Adriatic coastline for the day and tomorrow we will take the train into the old town part of Bari. Excited about that!
Love you, think of you and tell Fae hello for me.

Wish you were here, too! Your trip sounds amazing, and I’ll look up the towns you named. Yes, I wish it were possible for us to “beam over” to visit one another in our respective homesxaway-from-home! Once Fae arrives, it’ll be pretty much a mad dash north and back, then over to Paris (where I hope to find time to connect with Sylvie and Pascal - staying with them is one of my favorite travel memories with you....) Stay safe, and keep enjoying!!!
Me, too! Yes, I’m feeling nostalgic about this cottage, but need to remember why I’m here (to explore and have “authentic” experiences of places). I’ve met many kind, funny and helpful folks, which has been great, now I just need to find others with different accents (I can ALMOST distinguish between Yorkshire and Cumbria now).
Yes, I was amazed at the quality of my cheap cut! (However, she kept me waiting 40 minutes past appointment time, ran out of hot water in the middle washing my hair, and totally soaked my turtleneck...) ?
Spooky!! So did the mammoth moth create your late night noises? Don’t leave your fans wondering!!
Love the local towns and your shopping experiences. Your new scarf is tres chic❤️
Are you close to having your friend join you for more adventures? Have fun...and try a cooking show instead of the scary stuff ?
Sherlock Yes, indeed, the moth was my midnight monster. Amazing how much noise he made each time I turned off the light.... but once I cracked the window, he followed the night air out of the room...
Are you packed yet? So sorry we’ll miss each other by just hours in Paris - but enjoy, almost-birthday girl!
Night terrors! So sorry to have such a hearty laugh at your expense! I’ve known you for sooo long and have witnessed a few episodes similar to this Mothra event. At least the creek wasn’t rising!! Stay safe?
Paris Rendezvous Damn, we leave Paris on 10/6 in the morning at around 10:30 AM....no close and yet so far. Where are you staying in Paris? With Sylvie and Pascal??? That would be so cool. If so, please give them a hug from all three of us....Stacey, David and me. See you on FB!! Big Hugs, Kier
Merde A close miss, indeed. My friend Fae and I are using a package tour, so won’t see Sylvia and Pascal (although I may sneak away from the Versailles trip to be on my own, and might be able to rendezvous with them...). Enjoy!!!
Beautiful Sights Amazing home and furnishings. I am puzzled why anyone would buy the outside stairs to help pay a debt. Curious! The interior shots were beautiful and the grounds were also so well cared for and maintained. Thanks for sharing your journeys. You are doing a great job blogging and photo journaling your adventures. We are at Black Butte right now, headed home tomorrow to pack for France as we are leaving on Saturday 9/22. See you on FB!! Hugs, Kier
