Getting to comfortable
IT does sound like you've been enjoying your visit and got comfortable but now you are on the road again. Don't worry about the looks people give you MIllie knows you are wonderful parents and running around crazy to protect her. All is good.

Getting to comfortable
Grant says exactly the same about other people's looks and yet it's still hard to be judged like that... Thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it!

At the Main Market Square in Krakow

Historical Krakow!
How wonderful that you had time to get a feel for that beautiful city the first day. I'm rather glad that the capital was moved to Warsaw because then Krakow was frozen in its 16c beauty, didn't undergo modernization and wasn't such a target for the Germans and Russians in WWII. Good for you for saturating yourselves in Krakow's tragic WWII history--some of our modern leaders need to do this, so they can feel the horrors of war. And the rain and missed sites--well, how great to have an excuse to return to this city--maybe in the magical snow next time!

Historical Krakow!
You have a good point there, to be honest never really thought about it from that perspective, but it is true - the capital was moved to Warsaw and thanks to that Krakow remained pretty much undamaged. Yes we have a good excuse to go back there for sure! Thanks for reading and commenting Tara.

Bad Neighbours
Always thought that Poland had the worst neighbours at the worst point in history, Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia, couldn't think of anyone worse in history. So important that places like Auschwitz are preserved so future generations can understand what happened and hopefully will never happen again. As for Millie's horse obsession, perhaps that may have been a great way to see Poland, on horse back - save money and keep her happy at the same time, providing you were not in a hurry. Site seeing in the rain is something we would only do if we were desperate, not much joy in that. Looking forward to Zakopane, just need to find it on Google maps

Bad Neighbours
Yes, it's hard to tell which one of them did more damage to the country... Think Millie is fine with observing the horses from far for now and so am I actually. :)

Going Home
Glad the family is enjoying Millie and spoiling her appropriately. Sounds like she will grow up to be a strong and independent traveler. We hope to go to Poland sooner than later and your blogs are giving us lots of ideas. Thank you.

Going Home
Happy to hear you found my blog helpful. Poland is very diverse and has many beautiful places to see, so hope you'll enjoy it when you make it over here. Yes, very happy my family has a chance to spend some time with Millie and watch her grow. Thanks for reading :)

Warsaw Uprising and Shrek???
You have to love those travel/life moments that has you wondering for days later "what were they thinking?" The Elblag canal cruise up the grass looks amazing, never heard of it before but it is now on our "must do list". I sure hope you get a payment from the Polish tourism board because you are doing a fantastic job showing us all the things we didn't know about. Looking forward to Krakow

Warsaw Uprising and Shrek???
Yes, sometimes it's just not possible to follow people's way of thinking... think they get lost somewhere along the way themselves as well! It sure would be great to get some funds from the Polish tourism board, if only to explore some more, but sadly no millions coming my way just yet... Happy to hear Elblag found its way on your to do list :)

Millie enjoying the canal cruise

Born traveller...
I suppose given the genes she's inherited it's not surprising that Millie is a good traveller, but it's so lovely to see her so chilled and happy in all the photos you put up of her :)

Teutonic Castle in Malbork

Millie, the traveler!
How great that Millie loves being with your family and traveling! While I visited and loved many places in Poland, including the impressive Malbork Castle, I'd never heard of Elblag or that great canal trip. Lucky Grant to have a native show him beautiful, less-visited parts of your wonderful country, as well as showing him how to find wild mushrooms. And next Krakow--my favorite, along with Zakopane!

Yes, we are truly blessed that she is coping so well. Grant loves nature so it was only a matter of time before he checked out and learned about our forests. Nice to hear you've visited some places in Poland, Krakow and Zakopane are definitely my favourite as well!

Nice to see old Fiats back in action!

Not for tall Swedes
I was offered a ride in one of those tiny Fiats once. I am close to two meters tall and when I tried to sit in the backseat I had to sit sideways or rather half lie down. It was very uncomfortable. Luckily the ride was only 10 km so I was out of the car quite soon. /Ake

Whoever came up with these models, most certainly didn't have comfort in mind... I can imagine how difficult it must have been for you to squeeze into one of these. Love these cars though, simply because they were a part of my family :)

Hate Queues
Just hate queues, but sometimes it can be worth it. Glad that world youth day didn't spoil Warsaw although I think I would have been angry at the queue jumping. Agree with the Huge soviet building in the centre of town, I sort of like it, but it is a bit of a sore thumb in town and doesn't really fit with anything else around it - maybe best to get rid of it. As usual you have informed us of all the things we didn't do but on the upside they are now on our list for our return.

Hate Queues
I really don't like queues either and usually would just give up on the place if the queue was too long... the queues were long everywhere this time so it just didn't make sense being mad all the time ;) thanks for reading!

Great looking Gdansk
Wow, Gdansk looks incredible, now we are really kicking ourselves. Really wanted to see this town but it got cut (along with a lot of other places) on this trip - but there is always the next trip. It is incredible how they can rebuild these towns so well, and you would never guess the destruction till of course you see the photos. Those old radios at the Fair looked pretty good - didn't manage to buy one and pack it in your bags?

Great looking Gdansk
The radio collection was fantastic and we probably could've squeezed in a few of them in our gigantic bags, resisted the temptation though ;) Yes, it is hard to believe the cities were almost levelled to the ground years back when you're looking at them now! You should definitely visit Gdansk on your next trip to Poland, it's a great city.
