Hello everyone, Firstly, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and Boxing Day, and are still enjoying the festive period as we creep towards the New Year. Something happened yesterday which I thought i'd share with you all - Some may find this utterly boring, some may find this utterly amazing - As I did. From the time we booked our flights for our travels, I knew that we'd be in Australia whilst the England Cricket team were touring Australia in The Ashes. I left it as just a thought though, as I never really thought we'd get to see a match, as the Aussies love their cricket and getting tickets would be really hard to come by. Fast forward to Singapore, after having 2 tickets on a plate and neglecting to buy them because ... read more

Dear all our friends and family, We wish you all a very Merry Christmas - You will all be sleeping now waiting for Santa to arrive, but it's 1.30pm here! Unfortunately, the sun hasn't made an appearance today so we're having a TV Marathon (Love Actually, Royle Family, Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special and Miracle on 34th Street!). Amber made a cracking roast on Christmas Eve, and she is currently whisking the mixture for Yorkshire Puddings and reheating the left overs! Yum! We had a lovely Christmas breakfast (Poached eggs on turkish bread with Champagne), the intention was to have Salmon too but it'd been festering in Tim's bedroom for 3 days, it somehow escaped refrigeration! We want to share our Christmas with you as much as possible, so check out the photo's of our Christmas ... read more

Hello from Melbourne, Australia. If you didn't know, we're 11 hours in front of the UK, which means that we know the future before you do. Good eh? We last blogged just as we arrived in to Singapore. Our hostel was probably the nicest we've been in. We had free wi-fi, free breakfast, free tea/coffee/hot chocolate all day, a duvet (our first in 3 months!), a widescreen TV along with a PS3, Nintendo Wii and an unlimited amount of films and air conditioning. Need we say more? Our location we pretty good as well, we were right in the middle of the vibrant Chinatown, and just a stones throw away from the MRT (Singapore's underground system). The hostel was decked out with a Christmas Tree as well so we both felt right at home! Singapore was ... read more

Seasons Greetings to one and all!! So, the last 10 days have been spent in Malaysia and we've loved every second! We spent a week on the island of Langkawi (off the west coast of Malaysia) and then headed down to Kuala Lumpur. As some of you will know I haven't been very well, it's probably easier to say what wasn't wrong with me rather than what was, but I've put my symptoms down to exhaustion and poor diet (Mat and I are very much over the whole rice and noodle thing!) We've travelled for over three months and the longest we've stayed in one place is four days. It's my own doing because I want to do everything, meet everyone and go everywhere and my body just needed to stop for a while! So Mat ... read more

Sometimes Thailand has felt like a bit of a boxing match; Boxing with our emotions, our dicky tummies and if Amber had it her way boxing with rude Thai people. Oh, and the odd occasion of wanting to box each other! We departed Cambodia on the 18th November (our favourite country yet!) and headed for Bangkok. If we had it our way we would have made the 14 hour trip down to the islands (on the Southern Gulf coast) immediately, but our bus took 4 hours longer than expected (which is pretty standard by now) so we missed the connecting bus and had to stay in Bangkok for the night. Ko Phangan is a beautiful island, probably the most beautiful Amber and I have agreed. In Koh Phangan we were reunited with friends we had met ... read more

Sua s'dei! So, Post Killing Fields and S-21, we headed to Southern Cambodge to the beach! The morning before we left, our "friiiiennnddss", Kate, Laura, Dan and Seb contacted us to let us know they had found paradise on Otres Beach. We'd all said our (2nd) goodbyes in Vietnam, so we were happy to be reunited once more! However, it didn't quite go to plan. We arrived in Sihanoukville and headed to the main beach, Serendipity, just to check it out. It wasn't much to write home about, so we set out to find Otres Beach. We were unaware that the main road to Otres was closed, which meant that we had to take a different route. This different route was through deserted land and completely unlit along bumpy dirt tracks. After 5 minutes of being ... read more

Yesterday, we arrived in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, and headed straight for the Killing Fields and Torture Prison (S-21) which were used during Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979). Pol Pot attempted to "cleanse" Cambodia in order to create an egalitarian agrarian society and in doing so killed approximately 2.5 million people, 21% of the Cambodian population. Anyone who didn't conform to this ideal was brutally murdered. We visited S-21 where the prisoner's were tortured for up to four months and then they were taken to the Killing Fields, executed and buried in mass graves. The Stupa in the middle of the Killing Fields contains in excess of 8,000 skulls, most of which displayed cracks - To save bullets, the Khmer Rouge used numerous instruments to bludgeon their victims. The most harrowing thing for us was ... read more

Well. Well. Well. I'm sat here working out what I need to blog about as Amber is in a cheaper Internet cafe... One with a painfully slow internet connection. It's lucky i've started using a diary or i'd be bloody useless. So, we left you on the 3rd of November, just after we'd got back from the British Consulate. That evening, we decided to go to a Vietnamese Water Puppet Show, which is a traditional show here. We didn't know what to expect, and it's a good job we did as it was mental. Mental and brilliant! The show is essentially about watching different puppets move about in water - Which doesn't exactly sell it to you, but when you've got 6 people using all kinds of instruments singing in high pitched voices, and 6 men ... read more

Part One - 2nd November Hey All, It's 7.30am and I've just waded through the flood water that comes up to my shin to the tourist office to see if our bus is heading for Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) today. It's not; I knew that would be the case. Mat and I are desperately trying to get to HCMC to get to the British Consulate so we can sort out emergency travel documents as our passports have been stolen. Looks like we will be stuck in Nha Trang for at least three days. I understand that for those who aren't in the know this is probably a bit of a shock but hopefully rumour has spread throughout our friends and family and most of you know that I was robbed. Now, I don't want anyone ... read more

Hey guys, Firstly, sorry it's taken so long! The ten days we spent in Laos are a bit of a drunken blur of which we will now try and relay! We left you in the glorious Pai and post blog we were about to embark on the worse journey known to man! We traveled from Pai to the border of Thailand, Chiang Khong, it was a 6 hour trip (nothing compared to the 24 hour one we have just endured from Laos to Vietnam!) but the road cut right through the mountains and our driver certainly had no comprehension of a speed limit! We have never hit mountainous bends, or any bends for that matter, at such a speed. Within twenty minutes one girl had been sick into a bag and we had to pull over ... read more
