So it begins

Well I thought I would send out a little message to my global community. I have been stationary for the last year and 8 months. Teaching English and living in Kaohsiung has been an awesome experience. So awesome that my travels will lead me back here in a little over a years time. My free time has been largely committed to my football team the Kaohsiung 100 Pacers ( When I first arrived I was told team was named after the most deadly snake on the island and was also a reference for about how far some of our aging players can run. They have helped make this place a home for me. Networks like this aren't created overnight.

So here is the skinny on my trip. My soccer team here is playing in a tournament in Thailand on November 21st and 22nd. That will be the perfect staging spot for my onward travels. We will be in Southern Thailand so I first plan to go down into Malaysia and ferry over to Sumatra. I'm super keen on doing a remote jungle trek to see orangutans and birds of course! There is also some lovely snorkeling at the north end of the island which is on my itinerary. I will work my way to Kuala Lumpur by the 30th of December and fly to Kolkata. Reckon it will be a good bet for some lively New Years fun. Then I will be heading for Bodgaya in Bihar. Meeting up with Jamie there and listening to His Holiness the Dalai Lama teach from January 5th to the 9th. From there I reckon have to go to Varnarsi for a taste of that chaos. Then depending on the weather I want to hit up Darjeeling and Sikkim.

I will heading back to Bangkok just before Chinese New Year in February. Hoping to go to the full moon party on Ko Phangan. My remaining time will be spent making a return trip to Laos and finally heading into the Yunnan Province of China. I reckon about 3 weeks for that and then a week to slowly make my way back to Bangkok, where I will fly home by the end of March for my mom's b-day.
