K in front of moon hill Yangshou
Stopped over in guilin for a night on our way here, not much to report from there except a good breakfast in the irish bar across from our hostel!
Yangshou on the other hand was stunning. Started off on a dodgy note though, myself and killian both pride ourselves in our map reading, direction figuring and general spacial awareness ability. For some reason in Yangshou, however, this went completely out the window and we spent up to 2 hours looking for a retaurant before realising we weren't on the street we thought we were at all, very traumatising for us both!
After realising our where we were however we got around fine. Did a balloon ride at dawn here, didn't have a very clear day so view wasn't great but the whole hot air balloon thing was class, despite the sleep deprivation! Found a nice little restaurant called kelly's along the canal, had some really tasty food, actually went back a second night it was so good.
The absolute highlight of Yangshou had to be a trip we did on the last day. We got a bus to Yangdi, which went over some fairly rough roads and through some
ballooning
Those up before us! fairly poor villages and then a boat onto Xing Ping - this was great, the scenery was amazing and so relaxed, lovely photos of it too. Xing ping itself was a nice spot too, so stopped for a beer and a banana split!
From here we got a bus to nanning where we stayed for a night, not a place we'd recommend but necessary for us to get to Vietnam.
Next stop Hanoi, Vietnam!
