A brief stop in Ho Chi Minh City

We arrived in Ho Chi Mind City in the morning, found an hostel, visited a bit and left the next day very early. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly named Saigon) is very different from Hanoi. The streets are also very busy but somehow less noisy, people do not use their horns as much. I also think there is more high rise buildings here.

We just walk around the city centre, went to see the cathedral and the post office. The latest was build by the French in the late 19th century and looks more like a train station than a post office, but it's impressive.

In the evening, we decided to get a night view of the city and to do so we went up the Sheraton. They have a terrace bar on the 26th floor. The night view of HCMC is nothing spectacular but it was fun to drink a cocktail up there. We also have to give an info, we already did that in New York last fall, haha funny.

Arrivé à Ho Chi Minh au petit matin, on s'est trouvé un hôtel, on a fait un petit tour dans la ville et on est reparti le lendemain, sensationnel! Ho Chi Minh City (appelé Saigon pendant l'occupation française) est très différente d'Hanoi. Une forêt d'immeubles immenses, certes moins bruyante, on dirait que le klaxon n'est pas aussi tendance ici.

On a juste fait le tour du centre en passant par la cathédrale, fermée, et la poste. Celle-ci, faite par les français au 19ème siècle (et oui encore eux) ressemble plus à une gare qu'à une poste.

Le soir venu, on se fait un petit cocktail au sommet du Sheraton pour apprécier la belle vue au 26ème étage. Certes pas des plus spectaculaire, le cocktail était quand même bon. C'est un peu devenu notre plan de soirée après avoir fait la même à New York l'automne dernier.
