After my 3-day trip to Côn Đảo archipelago from 16 to 18 May 2011, I must say that this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in Vietnam. The archipelago consists of 16 islands and islets in south east Vietnam (40 minute flight from Sài Gòn). This is one of the places where many Vietnamese died under French rule.

This shot was taken when I visited Bạch Dinh (white palace) in Vũng Tàu beach city.

At one end of the largest island, it looks like a head of shark, so it's called "Cape of Shark".

This dish costs US$7 (VND 140,000). The sea snails are cut into small pieces and steamed.

This shot was taken at one of the 10 large detaining chambers in the camp. The lock was controlled outside, so that prisoners couldn't open the shackles.

This camp was built by French and then used by Americans. There were 10 large detaining chambers, 1 special room, 20 dark small rooms and one room for prisoners of death punishment.

Prisoners are husking rice. Another hard work they have to do is to break hard rocks outside in the sun.

This camp was built in 1940 by French. There were 120 chambers with ceiling bars and 60 solariums without roof to torture prisoners in the sun.
