In 1930, French colonialists forced prisoners to carry rock for building this bridge to Núi Chúa mountain. 356 prisoners had lost their lives due to lack of food, severe climate, brutal beating from jail keepers. In August 1945 after the Revolution was successful, only abutments of this bridge were complete. The project was left unfinished since then.
