Old House
Original furniture Well no blog yesterday - did you miss me? Not a lot to report from yesterday apart from we went into a couple of old houses. These are the original houses that were built in Hoi An when it was a trading port. They were largely built by the Japanese. It is quite weird as you are walking around people still live in them. They also show on the wall where it floods up to and in 2009 it flooded up to 11 foot up the walls. When it floods they have to move all the furniture up to the next level. It also floods every year in October - thank god we did not pick October to come to Vietnam.
We also picked my sandels up and the shorts we ordered. Mike was not well again so a quiet night was had by all. We have moved hotels in Hoi An today and the new hotel is really nice and to be honest the pool is a lot cleaner.
We have definately lost the plot on days as we have booked a cruise on Halong Bay in a Junk for 2 nights and need to get there but
Old House
Original furniture before that we need to get to Hue and Hanoi. so we are in the travel agent trying to sort out how to get to Hue, how many days and also if we should catch the overnight train from Hue to Hanoi or fly. The lady there must have thought what have I got here as we needed a piece of paper to write
7 Hoi An
8 Hoi An
9 travel to Hue by bus and need to book hotel
10 Hue
11 Fly to Hanoi and need to book hotel
12 Hanoi already booked hotel
12/13/14 Halong Bay and back to Hanoi
I am sure a few months ago we could have worked this out in our head but as we are now so chilled out we are struggling on basic things.
Anyway we have decided to fly to Hanoi as by the time we have paid for a taxi to get back to Denang and then caught the train it would have been more expensive than flying and it only takes 1hr 10 mins flying or over 12 hours on the train - no brainer I think.
Rule 3
Don't swim if you are drunk and have heart disease, ha ha We still have have to sort a hotel out for Hue but hey this thinking is getting hard work and think we can sort that out tomorrow.
The hotel we are staying in now is in the historic part of Hoi An - downside is it does not have the fantastic river views or the free river boat to town - but hey ho remember we got done with the lady with the pointed hat - well at least that wont happen this time!!
Been doing my 30 lengths of the pool again (don't ask me how long the pool is) and noticed the swimming pool regulation number 3
"People with heart disease and who are drunk should not access the pool"
Which made me laugh out loud!
We are off out tonight down by the riverside for something to eat. It has only taken me weeks to work out in Vietnam if you ask for a drink with lemon in its name it is orange - what is that about!!!
I think if there is a world championship on playing solitaire with cards I would be number one I have played so often! In fact we are both into it - the competitive nature comes from seeing how quickly we can finish the game.
