The trip from Hue to Hoi An is a long one, approximately a 2.5 hour drive. On the way our guide invited us to see the most beautiful part of Vietnam, as stated by Jeremy Clarkson on TopGear (so therefore it must be true hehe), and it was pretty. As we got closer to Denang, we were invited to a Cham museum, a group of people that had settled in Vietnam, one lucky guy decided to follow us around and got a free tour
When we arrived in Hoi An, we had lunch with the guide who volunteered to take us on a walking tour of Hoi An where he would show us good restaurants and a good tailor. As there was to be a full moon festival the next night, he booked a balcony table for us overlooking the river/
After a rather easy experience ordering suits at the tailor suggested by our guide, we wandered back to the hotel for some R &R. Chris headed to the toilet and next thing was shouting and swearing. It seems there was a vistor in our hotel room, a small lizard, which we would later see all over Hoi An,
which we named Denang and who remained in the toilet for the duration of our stay.
Chris had somehow managed to convince me to join him on a Sunrise Photography tour of Hoi An so after waking up at 4am we were greeted by our French guide and taken to a boat harbour. From here, a boat was caught along with a number of locals to a small fishing village where we were invited to walk around and take as many photos as we wanted, including getting right up close and personal with the locals. This was a little disconcerting to me, so I stuck to scenary shots as the fish was unloaded from the boats. After a few hours of taking photos and a wander through some village houses it was time to catch the boat back to the mainland. I was dying of thirst and couldn’t wait to jump in the nice airconditioned car. Alas this wasn’t to be the case as bicycles were waiting for us at the other end and we had a pleasant ride back into town.
After saying goodbye to the tour, Chris and I wandered into town for some breakfast, we

Frozen beer sat down at a nice looking cafe ordered two burgers. After getting increasingly grumpy and waiting for 40minutes we were finally serve d two salad rolls with pieces of cold meat in them. Convinced it was dog meat, Chris refused to try them. I had a few bites and then we left, feeling very disgruntle.
We had one more day tour awaiting us, and that was a tour to My Son, ancient ruins on the outskirts of Hoi An, largely left in runs by the Vietnam war. Governments all over the world are paying and sending experts to help restore these ruins, I asked if the US was one of these governments, I didn’t receive an answer. The ruins of My Son, built centuries ago really were fascinating and great to see.
A quick visit to the beach and we were both glad we had decided to stay in the Old Town, we were debating this for quite a while before finally deciding on the Old Town. We headed back to the city and picked up our suits..
Next stop, Nha Trang and a beach oasis.
