After waving good bye to Denang, we were collected from the hotel and taken to Denang Airport for our flight to Nha Trang. Check in and security was probably the smoothest I’ve ever had and as quick as a flash, we were sitting in the small departure lounch. Once our flight was called, we boarded a small bus and were on our way to our aircraft, complete with propellers.. Right, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Upon takeoff, it become obvious that if you wanted a view, you would get one the entire flight as we didn’t seem to make it above the clouds once. From the old gentleman who got out of his seat when the plane started its descent, to the Asian guy in front of us who was on his phone at the same time, to the French pilot screaming at the ground crew and storming off, it definitely made the flight one of the more interesting I have been on.
After a long but scenic drive, we arrived at our hotel in Nha Trang, and had to try and contain our awe as we walked through the lobby. The hotel was gorgeous and Chris
and I had hoped it would be, after all this was the place we splashed out in, and were going to spend our time relaxing. We quickly dumped our bags and headed out to explore what Nha Trang had to offer.
The weather was hot and sunny but there was a dark storm cloud looming as we can across the first shopping centre we had seen to Vietnam, complete with a KFC. Now I don’t know why, but Vietnamese KFC is the best you will ever have, so I’d recommend trying a piece of chicken or two! We grabbed our lunch and headed to seats outside, I was facing the cloud and annoying Chris with describing how dark it looked before a massive, never ending gust of wind came and blew all the umbrellas except ours away. As the wind battered us, Chris struggled to hold onto the umbrella n while I tried and failed to save lunch. We finally managed to get inside and watched in awe as sand, dust and leaves were blown down the street. It was something like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I couldn’t help wondering what Hurricane Katrina must’ve been like. Chris
and I decided to seek refuge in the shopping centre we has found andwere thrilled to find a supermarket. For a grand total of AUD $26 we bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Red, a Bottle of Dalat wine, a bottle of rice wine and what Im assuming is Russian champagne along with some soft drink. Chuffed with our purchases we headed back outside where it was now pissing down with rain. We decided to make a dash for it but didn’t get very far before deciding that was stupid and jumping in a cab.. Which cost less than $1.
Shortly after the rain had stopped so we headed out again. After a long walk, we came across a Brewhouse which served fantastic beer and good food aswell!
Due to the heat and the fact that I was coming down with a cold =(, Nha Trang was spent relaxing by the pool and on our balcony overlooking the ocean..
Next its off to Dalat where hopefully it will be cooler..
