Hey...
We are in Hue now ... and luckily for our brit skin it's still raining!!
Got here yesterday after a couple of hours drive from Hoi An... went to the Marble Mountains on the way, which is a load of mountains made of ... guess what? ... yep Sandstone ... only joking!
Went up, saw a few caves with shrines in ... got a big splash of water on the camera ... and it stopped working. Thankfully it dried out in the car so we are off again with the snaps ... sadly no cardreader yet, so not able to load them up. Don't you worry tho - we will have a slideshow when we get home... you have spare few hours right?
So today we went on a city tour, saw some tombs (cheery!) and then the Citadel - which is the main draw to Hue. Pretty impressive stuff - altho after 5 hours in the p*ssing rain looking at pagodas I began to get "Pagoda Rage" ... then I got "Tour Group Rage" ... Esther was fine, as she had bought an umbrella (80p) ... me not wanting to look like Mary Poppins (like last night!!) didn't opt for the brolly option! ... a few of the local beers (Huda 33p) and I'm ok now!
We are off on a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) tour tomorrow - starting at 6am (might stay up all night?). This includes loads of sites from the Vietnam War (or American War depending on which side you are), and also some tunnels called Vinh Moc. This is where the whole village of Vinh Moc moved underground to avoid being bombed... should be interesting .. might take a brolly from the hotel this time tho!
So that's all for now - more when we get to Phu Quoc .. .which hopefully will be hot and sunny
