A good nights sleep and we wake up about 06:30 with Jai bringing me a cup of tea in bed. Back to our normal breakfast routine of eggs on toast then let the day commence.
Heavy rain throughout the night and everything is pretty wet this morning. The paperwork is supposedly ready for Jai's farm so with her sisters and mumtheyare off to the land office in Phon Thong thismorning, only 2 1/2 years after this drama started. I feel like I should do some work in the garden but ...
Sit down with a book for a while instead and enjoy my first read for 6 months before I get a bit restless. I am going to have to do something to stop this itchy feet syndrome or I am never going to finish all of thebooks I carted back with us.
The bamboo 'house' I made to keep our orchids safe during our absence has rotted and fallen down leaving them messed up on the floor so decide that this is a priority job. I clear all of the undergrowth from around and take down the bamboo hanging all of the orchids on a bamboo fance across the garden. I
then cut off the lower branches of the lamyai tree we planted last year to let some light into the kitchen and already things look a little better.
I take a walk through the undergrowth that used to be my veggie garden and nearly get lost just managing to find my way back to the house before dark. The lime trees are producing a lot of young fruit and the pommegranate has dozens of ripe fruit on it. I then switch my attention to the front garden and cut down the taller parts of the privet tree that used to be a hedge.
George comes to visit desperate for a new book to read.
Jai returns early afternoon after I have finished off the remains of last nightschicken and bamboo curry for lunch. Theyhave been at the land office for hours and still have to go back again tomorrow to finalise things - maybe. They are hoping that this will be the last visit as Jai's sister Bepat needs to go to Bangkok on Wednesday to see her doctor for regular check up.
I open up the rice house that we built last year and am pleased to see tat it is dry. The
water that seemed to e seeping through from underneath seems to have stopped so maybe it was just residual water from before the building wnt up or from th concrete itself; they do seem to use a very wet mix. Will clear it out sometime and can keep this years rice in there - if there is any ! - and free up our spare room that is about to become bedroom.
Early to bed again tonight after eating and a refreshing cold shower. Sounds quite an unpleasant experience but at this time of year it is actually quite refreshing. When it starts to get a bit colder later however ...
