Thailand - same same .......... but different

Just to explain, the Thai use "same same but different" when dealing with tourists' questions. As this doesn't make sense if not fully explained it confuses (and very often frustrates) foreigners e.g. why are you telling me that the tour you're offering today is same same but different to that tour tomorrow?!. it means 'Yes, something kind of similar to that, but not the exactly s... ON ON Hotel, Phuket

this is one of two rooms in the hotel where The Beach movie was filmed, and we were staying there!!!!!

is anybody there?

this room was next to ours, it was where Leonardo Di Caprio stayed for a night. We got to see it later (nothing was changed on purpose whereas other rooms have been renovated). Strangly enough they don't charge more for this room! they don't even advertise it in order to get clients, we found this hotel by chance!

a van in a local food market in Phuket town, there was also one with watermelons and one with pineapples, so cheap! i was binging on fruits at that point (it happens often actually)

Koh Phangang, Haad Rin beach - backpackers' mekka

this is so called: Full Moon Party island, people flock to this place every month to experience crazyness of a party in full moon, so did we...

and this is not a full moon party yet! all these stalls were selling buckets overflowing with some sort of alcoholic drinks. as you can imagine competition between these guys was crazy!

We met Fiona on a ferry to the island, got along very well and travelled together to Bangkok, where she finished her round-the-world trip and had to fly back home to Ireland.

Cookies bungalow - restaurant

we changed accommodation after 3 days in a hectic backpackers' area, we had enough, plus we were living in a cell. This photo was taken just after we checked in, you can tell we're tired..... The new place was by a gorgeous beach, a great place to relax!
