Well we - Sarah....some canadian girl te he....Becca....some wierd english girl...and I..completely normal obviously, decided to go to Bangkok for the new year! So we made the long journey to bangkok. Which is long! Well basically the Thai new year is just one big, big water fight and some tradition of putting a mixture of flour, water and egg i think on your face! Don't ask me why. But having been dropped off in the middle of Koh San Road, the backpackers spot of Bangkok, and therefore where the biggest celebrations were, we attempted to find out hotel. We must a looked like right wollies, with our big backpacks wadding through this mass, and i mean mass, of drunken Thai people with water guns and flour, it wasn't pretty. And trying to find the hotel was near impossible! Having found the hotel, we actually found our travel agent had written the wrong name so we actaully didnt have a room there. Turns out she wrote bangkok hotel because the hotel we were staying at was called bangkok but another Thai name for Bangkok. we were not amused. At something like 11pm after much argueing with stubborn, unhelpful thai people we were

They certainly know how to celebrate!
lead to the right hotel. Which we had past at the very beginning of our search!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Bangkok, i have to admit i didn't like at first. We spent most of out time there shopping at MBK shopping centre - it's actually heaven! Think i'll have my ashes sprinkled there! - only joking...no really...don't. lol. Everything under the sun is there. Although it is only one of the many massive malls in bangkok, it's just the cheapest! I had my nose pierced for 200baht - that's about £3!! i later went back on another trip to have my ears done! £1.25 for both ears!

We also went to a restaurant called cabbages and condoms. It was built in order to raise money for helping against the spread of AIDS. Everything you could think of to make out of condoms they did! no joke! Lanterns, clothes etc. You'll see from the photos. Food was pretty impressive as well.

We also went to the Grand palace. Obviously amazing! So shiny! and the weekend market - Chatachuk, i have never such a big market in my life, it was astounding. There was everything. I will have to say more about this on my later visit to Bangkok where i had a better look at the market. As in spent the whole day there!! mainly getting lost.

Well that was the summary of our four days there. I then went home to Koh Tao and Becca and Sarah went on for a quick trip to Cambodia!
