OK, ok. I know its a weak title but it seemed appropriate, given that the gov have just issued warrants for the arrest of 18 red shirt leaders! However, the city seems eerily quiet with almost empty roads compared with the chaos of a month ago. We were out for a meal last night and no sign of any trouble, though some light army presence noted, so expect to get to airport today ok, hopefully.
Quad biking was great and saw a lot more of countryside that way. Said goodbye to the rest of our group this am, and exchanged a few addresses as seems appropriate after a month together..whether any are followed up remains to be seen,...I hope so, as they have been a great bunch, fun all the way, and we will certainly miss them . although one couple...the cockneys...are also going to Koh Samui today so will likely meet up at some time there..
So, 10 countries visited, transported by 18 jets, a seaplane, 3 ferries, Amazon and Mekong river boats, canoes, kayacks, a punt, 2 overnight sleeper trains, tuktuks, cyclos, bicycles, quad bike, public bus, countless coaches, horse and cart, elephant, and water buffalo, ...traded

Restauranteurs kids...well 3 of his 11! in pesos, soles, US dollars, NZ dollars, Fijian dollars, Australian dollars, Baht, Kip, Dong, Rial, and GB. Pounds, slept in hotels, motels, Halong bay cruiser, Amazon cruiser, sleeper train, camper van, and village hut, .....eaten a plethora of unusual foods, including the usual net load of exotic fish and seafood, silk worm, snail, spider, beetle, grasshoppers, jellyfish, eel, and quite probably toad....and survived altitude sickness, Beastie bites, coral gouges, rhinitis and the usual gastroenteritis......we are almost ready to come home!
The trip has been indescribably awesome, though I have attempted to describe it!
It feels like a year since we left Scotland and landed in Beunos Aires. Apart from New Zealand, we have had maybe 3 days when we had a short light shower...and the weather has been better than the books predicted, with cool evenings only in NZ South Island' on the Laos Mekong, Hanoi, and Halong Bay. Otherwise, shorts and T shirts for over 3 months!
Also, thankfully, our daughter in law, Louise has kept fairly well, has nearly completed her chemo, and kept us up to date with her excellent blog. Emma has apparently managed to keep our dog alive and not yet lost
Anyone for spider?
C'mon..its top quality tarantula! him, and Brian and Sandra have kept our house, car, and mail in sound order..or so they tell us! And my wonderful colleagues at the Health Centre have protected us from all the nasty diseases..thanks to all who have made this adventure possible.
Now its the beach for a weeks R and R before the long trip homewards.. Our kids are organizing a welcome home dinner, combined with Kelly's housewarming and Tracy's birthday all rolled into one! Throw in 3 grandchildren, a few bottles of cab sav, a fair dollop of jet lag and you start to get the picture ....
Finally, after 13 weeks, I seem to have mislaid the bit of kit that transfers foties from my SD card to my nexus, and hence my blog.. So prob no more photies, but luckily I think all the best stuff is done. Lovely though Koh Sumui is, a beach is a beach, and Fiji was pretty special. However, will prob take many pix...just won't be able to load them to blog till I replace the thingamajig
See you all soon..X
