The Beginning
It all started at 545 yesterday morning when we awoke, a shower and some breakfast later it was time to pack the car and head to the airport.
When we arrived to check in our plane to Melbourne had been delayed by 10 minutes and was now scheduled to take off at 920. We arrived in Melbourne around an hour later and then arrived at the baggage claim just as an announcement was made that there would be a 10-15 minute delay before the baggage
would be released (who said "normal" airlines have less problems ?). After claiming our luggage and making our way to the International terminal we were slightly early for check in for Jetstar and then they were a lot slow in setting up but when they were finally organised it was all smooth sailing straight through security and customs into the Qantas lounge(see the previous entry for photos).
The flight itself was one of the best ever with a glass of sparkling wine prior to take off only the start of what was to follow. (For those of you that don't know we were flying Star class). Our cabin crew were excellent
to the point where it never entered my mind to complain when Jub(our Thai air hostess) kept crashing into my chair with the service trolley everytime she came and went through the curtain, she would apologise then I would laugh and say "mai pen rai" which is the Thai equivalent of "no worries".
We were seated right in the first row so we always got first choice of everything and for lunch we had an excellent stir fry beef and noodles and a side of salad with a kit-kat for desert, a few hours later it was a cheese & fruit selection and wine then as a pre dinner snack it was fuit & nut mix and lindt chocolate balls while colli had pretzels. For dinner there was a bit of aussie fair with a choice of beef & onion, chicken & bacon or malaysian curry pies and then finally for desert it was gourmet vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Our other two hosties (another local Thai lady and a very funny italian guy) did a fantastic job also throughout the flight but their names unfortunately escape me at this time but they definately deserve a mention.
A
smooth landing at Bangkok and a pretty quick trip through customs and baggage then we very quickly found our rep from World travel service and were escorted to our waiting car and were at our hotel in less than an hour. On our arrival we were delighted to find our favorite entertainers from our last trip to Siam@Siam design hotel were still here and sound just as good as last time.
I was going to run through the details of our first full day back here but we have an early start so I think i'll leave it here for now and fill you all in after we have been to Dreamworld(the amusement park we are going to not the place you go to when you fall asleep). I'll leave you with a few pics from onboard the plane, our room and the executive lounge.
Bye for now,
Paul & Colli
