Took the karaoke bus to Seam Reip to Bangkok. It was supposed to take 10 hours but luckily it only took about 8. We swapped to a mini-van after the border and the roads were significantly better so we were able to drive a lot faster. There was a huge difference after crossing the border, the Thai side is definitely a lot richer.
We were dropped off at the end of Khao San Road in Bangkok, the main tourist street. I went and checked into the Khao San Palace hotel which was right in the middle of the street, only 10 pounds per night for a room with AC and there was a swimming pool on the roof!
That evening I went out for a meal with the American family I had met on the bus. We ate the pad-thai served from a street vendor and had sticky rice with mango’s for desert, it was really tasty.
