At the Grand Palace in Bangkok
Sawasdee!

We're finally in Bangkok (which the Thai people call "Krung Thep" - the City of Angels), installed in a backpacker hostel on the famous Khao San Road and starting to feel that the trip is really beginning now. It's hot. We're going to stay here for a couple of days and then head out east to Ko Samet island.

We spent the last couple of days in Hong Kong seeing more of Kowloon - the Art and History museums are fantastic - and went up the Peak one more time for a walk and views all over the HK island. HK is such a dynamic place that we discovered that what we thought was the tallest building (according to our guide book) is now the 3rd tallest building...

Oh and a good general tip - don't forget to take penknives out of your handluggage before attempting to board aeroplanes, we were forced to 'donate' the one from our bag to HK security!
