Rain coming through
It's was a heavy shower that I could watch coming from the distance. Of course the poor construction guys just off the hotel keep on working right through it A beautiful clear morning today, which means its gonna be hot on the run. And it was. The training schedule is really strange, any other foreigners seem to show up later, with 3 showing up today at almost 8:00. That was when I had been wrung out of sweat by the run and jumping. The rounds were only 4 today, and I was a little winded in them. Then weights, sit-ups and pushups. Still managed to leave at about 9:30. Starting to add up bruises and small injuries. Yesterday, I mis-hit on a kick to the pads and have a bit of a strain in my foot but it's better now than it was this morning when I woke up.
Just getting ready to head back for the afternoon session and there was a torrential downpour that just rolled through. Couldn't really see much out the window, but now its looking like it will clear. today is supposed to be 5 rounds with Jomhod....
Managed to get to the BTS using an umbrella, and now I'm not sure if my shoes are wet with rain or still with sweat. The skytrain is not the smoothest stopping vehicle when there
Jomhod and his belts
He had four on display for some photos for people this afternoon so I figured o might as well get some too while I could. His next fight is in Laos on Nov 7 is so much water laying around. I needed the poncho for the walk to the gym, but the closer I got, the less rain there was. It was still light enough to start the session with 30 minutes of jump rope. Ajarn must have seen the pain in my eyes because after about 5 or 6 minutes, he noticed it wasn't raining and said to go run. Sad to think that was good news. Then it was just dodging puddles, cars, scooters, and piles of dog poo that didn't quite get washed away. Rounds on the pads while Jomhod got ready and then 3 or 4 ( cant remember again) rounds of kicking and blocking. Maybe next week I will be recovered a little more to not seem so exhausted. And of course the day finished with 3 more laps. Two of the younger boxers decided to hide in one of the driveways and jump out while I was running. I guess they are getting used to seeing me here. After packing up for the long walk, I ended up getting pick up part way by Jomhod on his scooter and got a ride down to the BTS station. That
Champion
Ajarn (my trainer) told me that he has been training Jomhod since he was a little kid. I'm lucky to have the chance to train with him saved me a ton of time. Glad for that tonight as I was really looking forward to getting to the hotel to shower and eat.
Tomorrow's plan is a bike ride for about 5 hours touring the city and some of the Wat's. As i understand, things are already getting blocked off for the ceremony of the cremation of the King who died last year, so I'll just see where the bike ride goes.
I'm also having to cut short the trip by a couple of days. This afternoon at the gym, there was some discussion about training next week. The gym will be closed Thursday and from what I understand probably Friday also. So I'm going to probably have to go to the airport to rebook everything because trying to do it online or over the phone here is not the easiest thing in the world. I think I can take the BTS to the train to the airport, so that will be something new too. Probably an afternoon activity tomorrow after the bike ride. Six more sessions at the gym next week after the 11 this week, and I think I'll have my fill without feeling I've missed too much. Actually it's probably a good thing, as everything hurts right now, and I can use the day of from training tomorrow. Looking forward to just 4 more nights here.
