After a whirlwind of excitement, I finished my 3-week-trip in Singapore. For me, Singapore is just like home, the food, the shopping malls, the people there, not much difference from everything in Hong Kong. The 3-week summer course in NUS was too good. I did live in the food and shopping paradise for a while. Finally, I was able to enjoy the summer breeze after the long and cold winter in Canberra.
During a short span of 3 weeks, I walked past tall and modern architectures on my way to shopping areas every day and mingled with students who are from all over the world.
I was saying no to the smell of durian, but yes to the colourful ice cream sandwiches outside Ion shopping mall and Japanese omelet rice in the NUS campus, and a definite yes to local hawker food stalls. Chili and Pepper Crabs, egg yolk stir fried prawns and Icy coconut milk, are all my favourites! They all added colours to my exciting trip!
I caught a bus to Santosa Island and buried myself under the warm sand at Palawan Beach, got my golden brown tan. I was browsing at Ion shopping mall and
being attracted by the food displays in restaurants. I relieved my childhood memories at one of the most interesting exhibition in Singapore (Pixar Exhibition) and cheered for the Pixar production. I was amazed by the digital art works!
Even though the washing machine might have been the best invention for me in the past decades, I realised the wonders of hand-wash. Somehow, it is a lot more convenient when you’re living in a dorm where is not close to the laundry room.
The 9-hour flight back to Australia ended faster than I expected, with the high-tech audio and film entertainment on the Qantas plane. I am determined to return to Singapore once again to look for more excitement.
