Night Safari
About the only picture that came out Singapore is amazing and I wish I spent a few extra days there but never mind, I crammed all the essentials info my few days there.
Everyone was suprised that I was on my own but I had a great time and I never felt out of place or worried about being a female on my own in any way. Everyone was extremely friendly and the staff at the hotel, mainly the porters decided to call me Princess for my stay so thats all I got every time I went in and out the hotel, was very sweet.
Here are some pics and a run down of what I got up to in Singapore, as mentioned before I wasn't that well. I have been fighting a cold/flu for the last few weeks but what with organising everything to come back to the UK I sort of ignored it but I think as soon as I got to Singapore and my brain decided it was ok to relax now it all caught up with me...typical.
Day 1 - Arrival and Night Safari I arrived at around 1pm and was staying at a hotel in the area named Little
Deepavali
The Festival of Lights India which was a great location to stay in. Was the sort of area that most of the tourists never make it to and was very authentic, from the guide books it said that Little India hadn't changed much over the years and was still very much the old way of Singapore so I was glad I stayed there and got to witness that. Also lucky as it was actually Deepavali while I was there which is a festival of lights so all the streets where covered in lights and there was a sort of carnival/festival atmosphere at night, it was great.
After arriving at the hotel and having a snoop around the local area and shops it was time for me to go on my first tour to the Night Safari. Unfortunatly I do not have any pictures of the tour as it was of course pitch black and you are not allowed to use flash photography as it will scare the animals. It was great fun and I got to see lots of animals (tigers, rhinos, elephants, wolves etc etc) in their natural habitat at night when they are all active. After we also got to watch
Pink Dolphin
I said they were Pink Pink, they actually only turn fully pink once they are mature a fire show and an animal performance, all in the dark of course so again none of my pics came out - I have the memories in my head though :o)
Day 2 - Sentosa Island All this day right through until late (about 10pm) I was on Sentosa Island, I just wish I had time to sit on the beach, it looked very inviting. I went across on the cable car and got my first sights of the actually city of Singapore and the huge buildings and there are more going up, cranes everywhere. On the Island I went to watch the Dolphin show where they have trained some very strange Pink Dolphins, never seen one of them before, as you'll see from the pics I'm not talking a tinge of pink, I'm talking Pink Pink!! Then we went to Underwater World which was cool, got to touch some rays and see these huge Japanese Crabs!! After that it was on to a show named 'Images of Singapore' which was amazing, its all done with lasers and holograms and runs through the history of Singapore and how it came to be the city it is today. Then
Jumps
See this one isn't as pink as its still in its teens it was time for dinner and trust me by then I was starving, I went with the traditional food but you would be suprised how many of the people on the tour went for Fish and Chips, tut tut!! Last but not least was the show 'Songs of the Sea', this was another amazing show with lights, lasers, holograms, fireworks, fire.....you name it and it was there, it was incrediable.
Day 3 - Shopping and Sight Seeing This was my last day as I flew out at midnight so I crammed in as much as possible.
I spent the day on Orchard Rd and my god, I could have spent a whole week there, it was like I had died and gone to shopping heaven. I took someones much needed advice and tried not to get carried away in one mall as they just go up and up an up. You name it and you can get it on that road, I wondered in Prada and Gucci like I belonged there, haha, little did they know I had no money. I tried on clothes that I wouldn't be able to afford if I sold a limb and
Show Off
Look at its pink belly :o) trust me I would have been prepared to do it...hehe. After shopping myself to an early grave I stopped in at the National Museum on my way back to the hotel to shower and check out.
From around 4.30pm onwards it was time to sight see. I went down to the Boat Quay, saw the landing sight of Sir Raffle, went to the Merlion, saw the new Esplanade buildings, went on the Singapore Flyer which is the largest wheel in the world and eventually ended up at the Raffles Hotel in the famous Long Bar with a well deserved Singapore Sling and a tray full of nuts.....hehe. It was a full on day and I was absolutely shattered and was actually looking forward to collapsing on the plane....which I did!!
So thats a run through of my trip to Singapore. If you haven't been before I urge you to go but spend more than 3 days, its really not enough. Maybe on my next visit to Australia I can stop there again and see some more.
Take care, Char xox
