Arrived safely in Singapore and are staying at the not especially salubrious Hotel 81 on Bencoolen Street, but good central position, comfortable bed and minute bath!

Been to Little India this afternoon and Steve got chatted at by a 'holy man' who had his own business card with his name and 'Holy Man' on it! He told Steve that he (Steve) sometime got angry and that I had a lucky face. I thought he was saying that I had a funny face, but apparently not. Anyway, I think he got his fortunes the wrong way round and he gave us both some holy beads from his mala. Then came the catch, some money in return. Steve kindly obliged...then went for a very nice thali in a traditional restaurant and had a tiger beer to wash it down with. The rice was served on a banana leaf on a tray with lots of side dishes around the edges. Very tasty.
