Day 25 Today started as usual - late. Got up before 10am and had breakfast and then we got a visit from Anita, our maid, and Christina the owner of the house. We had a good long chat and she told us of some of the best places to visit. Some of them we had already done and regrettably time is getting much too short to do some of her other suggestions.
Peter & Gina and Mary & David had packed up some items to be mailed back to Australia as the cost of surface mail is a considerably cheaper option than excess baggage. David had already sent back several parcels and sent another an Peter and Gina sent a couple today.
Strangely enough, even though we all went our separate ways today, we all ended up at Times Square. It’s such a massive place that you could lose anyone here. Any way after leaving the post office David and Mary headed off to do some shopping in the centre and then they ended up at Sungei Wang shopping plaza. Interestingly, Christina told us today that Sungei Wang means River of Money - how appropriate and there’s a fountain
outside the front entrance which promises good feng shui.
Stuart and Abby and Danika and Zavanna also headed to Times Square but for a different purpose. This centre has the largest indoor theme park in South East Asia and they went there for a few hours of fun. By the sound of what the girls said later in the day , they had a great time. After that they went for a walk around the shops and later in the afternoon headed back to the house.
After doing their mailing of the parcels, Peter and Gina went and had lunch in Times Square and then headed off to the Melia Hotel to meet up with Kerry and Karen and Murray and Mandy from New Zealand. That had arrived in KL earlier that morning. We enquired at reception as to their room number and as the operator was putting a call through, they spotted us. They were still in reception having a cup of coffee as their rooms were not quite ready.
We gave them an hour or so to freshen up and then we took them on a tour of Sungei Plaza (after the rain had eased
up). Well like everyone else that sees this place for the first time, it just blew them away. We spent a good 90 minutes having a look around and headed off for a well deserved coffee and resting of feet. After this we headed down to our place and showed off our little holiday villa and to cap it all off, everybody else had returned back for a break.
In the evening we split into two groups, Gina and Peter headed off with the Kiwi visitors to Chinatown and the rest of the group heading of to OUG night markets.
The OUG night markets are where the locals shop and by all accounts they had a very good time. Not a lot of bargaining to happen as most of the product is priced very keenly for the local markets. They had some food of the stalls and made some good purchases. At Chinatown we showed the Kiwis around and although very tired they really enjoyed the tour. We had dinner there and shared the dishes between the six of us - as you do here.
The end of another very enjoyable day once more. It’s a shame
there’s not too many left.
