We were able to climb on board and have a look. This was very impressive...
Took the bus from Singapore to Melaka (decided to skip Johor on advice from my friend in Singapore). Journey was good, only two and half hours on the coach. Arrived mid-afternoon. Met a couple of lads when getting off the bus in the town centre and they followed me to a guesthouse called Tony's Guesthouse which I had called earlier for a bed. Bit of a dump really, but what do you expect for GBP2 a night(!). Took a look around the main sights in the late afternoon / early evening with the lads. Most interesting thing we saw was a water monitor swimming down the river. Unfortunately local kids were throwing stones at it. One guy I was with lost his head & started throwing stones at the kids! Rest of the sights were average. The waterfront is starting to look like the english-occupied coast of Spain. High rise hotel complex a-plenty. Wont stay here too long. Next stop Kuala Lumpur.
