Day 1 (22/07/2022) This was the first trip with my family after I had A.
We left house early hoping to beat the traffic at the Woodlands Checkpoint. The drive in was not too bad, just slight jam.
We then stopped at a dim sum place (Pin Ming Xuan) for breakfast. Slight more expensive than local kopitiam, but it looks cleaner (playing safe for A). Food was not bad as well.
We then drive to Mid Valley to do some grocery shopping as well as to kill some time before check in time.
Me, my husband and A went to Kiddytopia, while the rest went to do their own stuff. Indoor playground in Johor was so cheap as compared to Singapore and there was no time limit as well. A enjoyed himself at the indoor playground. As it was nearing A's nap time, we had to leave the indoor playground and meet up with the rest. I was hoping that they had done the grocery so that we could set off to Desaru while A nap in the car. Unfortunately, they were doing manicure and I had to do grocery shopping on my own. I was
actually quite pissed off because I had to carry A while he napped (he was so heavy, my back nearly broke) and they were taking their own sweet time to buy snacks etc.. By the time they are done, A woke up and this meant that I have to entertain him for the entire 2 hours car ride...
Finally, we reached our Airbnb. The outside of the house looks quite torn down, so I was pretty worried. The interior wasn't too bad, but sadly the accomodation only had 3 queen beds and 1 single bed instead of 4 queen beds that were stated on Airbnb website. We had 4 couples, so that means my younger brother and his girlfriend had to sleep separately. After settling down and eating our lunch/ tea break, we set off to the Ostrich farm, which was about 30 minutes drive.
The Ostrich farm was not too bad. The owner shared some information before letting us explore. There was also a horse and some chickens in the farm. We bought a bucket of feed to feed the ostrich. It was quite intimidating to let the ostrich peck your hand at first, but after a
few tries, we got used to it. There was a payable ostrich ride available but we did not try. Before we left, we bought a fried ostrich egg to try after much persuasion from the owner, but honestly, it tasted just like normal chicken egg.
After we left, we drove to a seafood place (Jade Garden) for our dinner. As it was still early, we took a stroll around the area. As it was near the ocean, it was breezy and the sunset made a perfect backdrop for photo. The seafood place was rather crowded with tour groups, but the food was just mediocre.
After dinner, we went back to our Airbnb. I slept with A, while the rest continued the night with mahjong.
