Place we found to eat down a back street
Outside of a place we found where the food was brilliant and cooked before your eyes Last meal with our adopted friends was brilliant we had oysters, squid and pork and chicken tempura washed down with a couple of beers (yes, only a couple).
Anyway whilst eating our meal we were watching TV and noticed that they were showing landslides in Japan. We asked what was going on and they said to us in pidgeon Japanese "no wowies souf (not quite Japanese but that is what it sounded like)". We explained we were going south (or souf, ha ha) - "ah so" they said "no go souf, bad". We showed them on the map we were going to Kagoshimo - "oh bad, bad" laughing at us.
We decided to get up early and go to the information before we set off south to Kagoshimo, the lady there said everything ok - so on the train we got.
During the journey they stopped for a least half and hour which is supposed to be un heard of in Japan, whilst there was a terrible storm, lightening and rain like you have never seen before.
After around 1/2 hour the train set off again and we were on our way - not knowing what we
Ying and Yang
Well that is what we named them - lovely couple. Always smiling! were going into. Anyway we arrived in Kagoshima to sun that was cracking the flags.
We had nowhere to stay when we arrived so booked into a Toyoko Inn - it is real cheap and a lot bigger room than we had yesterday for half the price and they also gave us a gift of icecream - yes I thought that was strange as well. I was expecting to go into the room and there would be no air conditioning but no I was proved wrong and hey ho air conditioning there was!
I must confess now that since being in Japan I have become a convert of - I know this is going to sound bad, so I am going to explain why I am a convert, it is because the tea here is not good - so you must now be thinking what are you a convert of for goodness sake, Starbucks. Yes,I said it Starbucks - can you believe it I would not touch them in England, but in Japan I am a convert.
I tell you what, the trains in Japan are fantastic - I will get you a picture of inside one when we go on the next train and post on our blog. They are so clean and spacious and the loos are something else - for a start off there are seperate toilets for women and children. Secondly they have heated loo seats, a sensor so you can put the loo seat down and and a sensor for flushing - England wake up and smell the coffee (did you notice a link there) we should have the same in England vote Japanese Loos in the next election!!!!
We are off to see Mount Sakurajama which is a volcano. We have to need to get a ferry there tomorrow so will let you know what it is like. It has not erupted for 100s of years let hope it keeps that way.
