My flight to Jakarta was funny I was the only English person on the flight with no other speaking English apart from the studdess. The emergency crash procedure was not repeated in English either which was a realisation that I was far away from home. The imagration cards were in English though which was'nt helpful to the rest of the people on the plane. As soon as one Indonesian waved her card and pen at me to assist her I seem to have a queue of people wanting me to complete their cards for them intrusting me with their passports, I should have charged commission. As I entered the arrivals hall I was bombarded with taxi man, the only thing they could say was taxi and after an hour of it I found myself loosing my ... read more

It’s been years since I left Manila, Philippines. I remembered leaving the country with a strong desire to come back one day. Months ago while browsing for some online cheap tickets, i came across Airasia’s promo going to the Philippines via Clark. I did not think twice. I grabbed the opportunity and now i have yet another exciting travel story to tell. For more information and cheap tickets, please do log on to Airasia website. I got my return ticket for only Rp 800,000,- ( Jakarta-KL, KL- Clark, Clark-KL, KL-Jakarta). My flight was scheduled for 9:00 P.M, which means i have to be at the Soekarno Hatta International airport at around 7 P.M. Since I was coming from the office which is located close to the Gambir train station, I simply took the DAMRI bus( here’s ... read more

See text in English below Noviembre - Diciembre 2009 He de admitir que Jakarta pudo conmigo, no la pude digerir.

I had considered the idea of going to Jakarta at the beginning of my trip, but in speaking with a few friends did not consider going until a friend and I thought it might be possible to meet there. Jakarta 'the big durian' as it is known, (Durian is known as the stinky fruit, tastes incredible but smells like rotting garbage), I would not describe Jakarta as rotting garbage by any means but it is a city of vast economic contrast, so the fruit it is compared to is appropriate. My friend Alexandra, whom I met over 12 years ago in Paris is quite a close friend who now lives in Hong Kong, she has a very close friend Niki who is a native to Jakarta and hoped she could see the both of us in ... read more

With every muscle in our body aching from the wake boarding in Singapore, we lifted our bags onto our backs and headed off to our last Asian country. We arrived into Jakarta late in the evening and found a rustic little hostel to spend the night in. Our first impression of the city wasn’t the best; it all seemed a little too rough and dangerous, but the people that we met were so friendly and helpful that we couldn’t but enjoy our experience there. With little time to spend in Indonesia, we borded an early train to Bogor the following morning. We bought the cheapest train ticket (fourteen cent for an hour and a half’s journey) and we sure got what we paid for. It was as if we had just stepped onto the set of ... read more
